High White Blood Cells In Pregnancy
Pyuria: White blood cells in urine usually are there because of an infection in the urinary tract. However, they can also be there in large numbers in a female when there is a vaginal infection or when she is having her period (always see red cells also in this situation). My best advice is to see your doctor and have a urine culture done to see what is going on. ...Read more
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Inflammation: The presence of elevated levels of wbcs in the peripheral blood suggests some systemic illness, often infection, but may be due to other factors. Not sure what you mean by liquid on your ovaries, but you may have an infected cyst, abscess, or pelvic inflammatory disease, or other issues. Discuss with your gynecologist. ...Read more
Why do you ask?: There is no need to treat a lab value. If you feel well and there are no abnormal cells, it is almost never a problem to have a moderately elevated white count. If real disease has been diagnosed, manage the disease using the lab as one parameter. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

10 month old had 2 uti's , had symptoms for #3 in less 2 months.. On meds. Culture neg, waiting to do tests could teething cause high white blood cells?
No: Teething does not cause an elevation of your white blood cell count. An elevated WBC count a this age is almost always due to an infection somewhere, and with a history of uti's already i would be looking in this area. It could be a kidney abcess, blood infection, or infection totally somewhere else in the body. There are other more rare causes of elevated wbc's, but teething is not one of them. ...Read more
Leukemia: Bone marrow malignancies involving the myeloid cells will cause abnormal growth of a certain clone of white cells and inhibit the proliferation of normal cell populations such as platelet precursors and red cell precursors so anemia would be expected also. Severe infection with septicemia could lead to the same problem via destruction of platelets in small blood vessels. Two very different cases! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

How accurate is a at home UTI test?Says I have high white blood cells but zero nitrates, or something like that.Have a apt in a week.
Dip sticks: These home testing devices detect either wbcs, nitrites or both. Nitrites are not generally a very accurate test, but the presence of white blood cells suggests an inflammatory process in progress, probably infection. Call and ask for an earlier appointment or go to an urgent care facility. If you have symptomatic UTI you should be treated. ...Read more
