High levels of white blood cells in urine. What could that mean?

High levels of white blood cells in urine. What could that mean?

Pyuria: White blood cells in urine usually are there because of an infection in the urinary tract. However, they can also be there in large numbers in a female when there is a vaginal infection or when she is having her period (always see red cells also in this situation). My best advice is to see your doctor and have a urine culture done to see what is going on. ...Read more

Recurring utis, lower left back pain under rib cage, high white blood cell count in urine, nausea, weakness. Causes?

Pyelonephritis: It sounds like you have pyelonephritis/ renal infection. You could have infected kidney stones or an obstructing ureteral stone. You could have vessico-ureteral reflux or a large post void bladder residual. I would recommend that you see a urologist and get a renal/bladder ultrasound and voiding cysto-urethrogram. Good luck. ...Read more

WBCs in urine: WBC's in the urine are commonly associated with infection or inflammation of the urinary tract. I have slightly high white blood cell count and very high levels of protiens in my urine. What does this mean?

What could cause chronic high white blood cell reading.anytime I get blood work for years my wbc is always high. blood in urine always possitive too?

What could cause chronic high white blood cell reading.anytime I get blood work for years my wbc is always high. blood in urine always possitive too?

How high?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have helped to know the actual values. The normal values are the central 95% of a healthy population, by definition, 5% of healthy people with have an abnormal result on almost all tests. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

Can steroid abuse cause high white blood cell count and protein in your urine ? My white blood cell count is 15

Can steroid abuse cause high white blood cell count and protein in your urine ? My white blood cell count is 15

Maybe but...: Our first concern is to rule out a serious infection (is your peripheral smear abnormal? Are the white cells primitive / angry-looking? Do you have symptoms?) and real kidney disease (how much protein, is it mostly albumin?) i hope you'll reconsider anabolic steroid use (if it's this kind of steroid); every guy i know who's tried this has regretted it. ...Read more

If bag for babies urine sample was contaminated can high level of white blood cell test be false? Also second bag for culture make test false neg?

If bag for babies urine sample was contaminated can high level of white blood cell test be false? Also second bag for culture make test false neg?

No bags!!: If there is a significant concern for a urine infection in a baby, a bag specimen should never be used. It's akin to pooping on an area before a culture is collected instead of a nice sterile clean sight. The baby should be catheterized with a tiny feeding tube or small cath tube and a truly clean specimen obtained. So many false positives from dirty specimens and then unclear results. ...Read more

Last two days fever but not know check blood test test result is white blood cell count high neutrophils high and lymphocytes low and urine albu pos?

Seems OK.: As long as you feel fine or are getting better these lab tests don't indicate much. Depending upon where you grew up and live in India these symptoms could represent serious disease, but the labs don't show anything specific. The way you feel should guide whether you need further testing. ...Read more

Can taking 1antibiotic &1 Cipro (ciprofloxacin) reduce white blood cell count in urine? Went to doc for UTI after taking those &said there weren't many Wh blood cells

Can taking 1antibiotic &1 Cipro (ciprofloxacin) reduce white blood cell count in urine? Went to doc for UTI after taking those &said there weren't many Wh blood cells

Here are some ...: It seemed you took 2 antibiotics since Cipro (ciprofloxacin) itself is an antibiotic. Finding WBC in urine suggests the presence of inflammation caused by bacteria, virus, stone, tumors, foreign body, after recent procedures, catheter, contamination at urine collection, etc., not necessarily by bacterial infection alone. Antibiotic is good only for the bacteria sensitive to it, not for anything else. So, don't... ...Read more

Im having a urine test the result of red blood cell is 1-3 normal is 0-1 hpf,and my pus cell WBC is 4-6 normal is 0-2 hpf what it is mean?

Do not worry: Those numbers are very low and likely are not significant. If you are having symptoms with your urination, let your doctor know to ask if he suspects an infection, but with those numbers it would be unlikely. Those numbers can also be affected by dehydration, so make sure you drink plenty of water daily. Also I see you take ibuprofen, make sure you are not over-dosing as this can cause bleeding. ...Read more

Are bubbles in urine a sign of a high red blood cell count?

No.: Bubbles may be normal, unless the urine is "bubbling" as it comes out of the urethra. Pneumaturia may be a sign of a fistula or infection. If the bubbles develop in the bowl when the urine hits the water, this may be normal. ...Read more
