I am on high protein diet...Plus I am involved in vigorous exercise but no improvement in muscles..Size.. Can u suggest what non steroid drug to take?
Type of Exercise: The type of exercises you do matter. You need to engage in more anaerobic exercises than aerobic. While weight lifting, squats, push-ups and crunches (all anaerobic) will build the different muscle groups, running and other aerobics will burn calories and build your cardiovascular endurance but help you lose, not gain weight. Talk to a trainer to help you draw up an exercise plan. Good luck! ...Read more

Steroids for asthma: Hi medius6, in terms of steroids, there are many options out there for treatment of asthma. There are inhalers, pills ,and iv forms used. Your doctor will likely recommend a steroid inhaler for persistent asthma symptoms to take once to twice a day. Saving the pills and iv drugs for the bad times. Bronchodilators(not steroids)like albuterol, are a mainstay of treatment as well. Hope that helps. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Lots of Options: OTC non-sedating antihistamines like Allegra, Claritin, or Zyrtec are helpful for seasonal/perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms. The gold-standard treatment are daily nasal steroid sprays, however you can try antihistamine nasal spray instead. Avoidance of triggers is important and allergy shots are also an option. What happens if severe GVHD of the gut does not respond to steroids or any other attempted medication?
Sorry, can't help: Graft vs host diease (GVHD) is complex, as are the treatments that lead to it (probably bone marrow transplant) and the diseases it treats. No how expert HealthTap doctors may be, there is no way any distant forum can answer a question like this. You'll have to disucss it with your (or the patient's) doctor(s). Sorry. Good luck to you and your loved one, or whoever the patients is. ...Read more
What to do if I had a MRI for my shoulder pain. it came back with nothing wrong. I was given a steroid medication b4 mri?
Shoulder pain: There are many causes of shoulder pain that do not show up on MRI. If the steroid is injected into the shoulder and an MRI is done immediately after, the study may show some fluid (the steroid that was injected) in the shoulder. Steroid however, will not reduce the sensitivity of an MRI study in finding shoulder problems. It sounds like you may benefit from a good shoulder examination. ...Read more
I've taken so many medications like effexor, adderal etc with endless listed side effects. So my question is how much worse can steroids be?
Not a good idea.: The anabolic steroids are not a good idea. Your system is highly stimulated already with an autoimmune disease. There is no sense in adding more chemicals for this. And sometimes people are already on steroids for the RA. If you are on DMARDS I would not add to the mix with anabolic steroids. Best wishes. ...Read more
