Normal MCV and high RDW cv blood test?

Normal MCV and high RDW cv blood test?

Need more info: All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the test is usually in the best position to do that. You did not state your question and what you described could well be normal for you. ...Read more

What do these results mean? Decreased MCH and elevated RDW in blood test?

What do these results mean? Decreased MCH and elevated RDW in blood test?

Suggests low iron: Mean corpuscular hemoglobin (mch) relates to how much hemoglobin on your red blood cell (see mchc - adds concentration to mch). Forget exact acronym, but RDW measures (via flow cytometry) size of many red cells--normal to have all about one size. If becoming anemic, see wide variation which raises RDW #. Both of these can be due to low iron, but also folate (folic acid) or B12--ask your Dr for context & plan ...Read more

I had a pre employment blood test and had high RDW and low mpv, is this something to worry about?

I had a pre employment blood test and had high RDW and low mpv, is this something to worry about?

No not at all: If your CBC is normal, these two values have little significance. I would ignore them but make sure your hb, WBC and platelet counts are normal. ...Read more

I'm wanting to know when some of your blood test are high what does it mean. WBC is 13.5 RDW is 15.9 NEUR is 8.9 ?

I'm wanting to know when some of your blood test are high what does it mean. WBC is 13.5 RDW is 15.9 NEUR is 8.9

?

CBC interpretation: WBC=white blood cell count, typically reported in mm3. Yours is 13,500. Normal is 4,500-10,800. Mild elevations can be due to infection, especially when mainly neutrophils, as seen in your CBC. RDW=red cell distribution width. It is a measurement of variation in RBC size. Normal is <14.5. RDW can be elevated for a variety of reasons. Usually represents an increase in early forms. Hope this helps! ...Read more

My recent blood test showed , ESR and RDW levels slightly high, and hematocrit level decreased slightly. Should i be worried?

My recent blood test showed , ESR and RDW levels slightly high, and hematocrit level decreased slightly. Should i be worried?

Lab data: Difficult to comment on lab results without clinical correlation, but you are slightly anemic and if this is iron deficient anemia it may be because of bleeding during your period and may require iron supplementation. The increased ESR and CRP are probably of no consequence. Get an answer to why your hemoglobin is low. Good luck. ...Read more

I was feeling ill and went to er and was told I was fine but I see my rdw and monocyte is high on my blood test . Should I worry ?

I was feeling ill and went to er and was told I was fine but I see my rdw and monocyte is high on my blood test . Should I worry ?

Think positive...: If you have been checked in ER, your doctor would have told you if there was anything significantly wrong. The kind of changes in your blood that you have noticed are not all that important in terms of causing any health probleems. As long as your Hemoglobin(Hb), white cell count(WBC) and platelet count are in the normal(reference range) you can be worry free. Just think positively , U are healthy ...Read more

High eos...: ...Usually raise suspicion of allergy or parasite infection; others are nonspecific. A better question would be , why was the test done in the first place? ...Read more

Check B12 and folate (folic acid): DD of macrocytosis. B12/ folate (folic acid) defeciency, hypothyroidism, liver cirrhosis. Wilson disease causes liver cirrhosis also DD. agglutination of Rbcs may give false High MCV. Hemolysis with reticulocytosis also causes high MCV. ...Read more

Thalassemia minor?: With normal packed cell volume, high red cell count, low MCV, I'd consider you may have thalassemia minor. This is good to know because if you marry someone else who has this, the children may have the very serious thalassemia major. Talk with your physician about this and what he/she thinks is actually going on. ...Read more

Everybody...: ...Is "susceptible" to HIV - as in, able to catch it if exposed. If the question is "do I have hiv, " only an HIV test can answer that with any degree of reliability, and the tests you mention do not help with that question one way or another. ...Read more

Blood test showed , ESR and RDW levels slightly high, and hematocrit level decreased slightly but no iron deficiency, suffering from dizziness. Scary?

POT and Minerals: A twenties female taking Aldactone (spironolactone) and who has dizziness needs blood mineral and thyroid tests. If these are normal a mild case of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (pots) becomes of concern. I have seen pots problem in women with joint hypermobility syndrome (jhs), and generalized musculoskeletal deconditioning seems etiologic. See an osteopath. ...Read more

Anemia found on blood test. Low hemoglobin, hematocrit, mcv, mch, high rdw. Have had heavy periods for a few years but why would it just show up now?

Anemia found on blood test. Low hemoglobin, hematocrit, mcv, mch, high rdw. Have had heavy periods for a few years but why would it just show up now?

It takes time to exh: We all carry extra reserves of blood and iron stores in our body which can make up for moderate blood losses for a long time. Only when the reserve is exhausted and there is no more iron left in the body will your blood tests start showing up Anemia. You need to ask your doctor for providing you the raw materials(like Iron supplements) to help you make extra blood. ...Read more

What does a low RDW mean on a blood test?

What does a low RDW mean on a blood test?

Means nothing: A high RDW is a measure of the variability in size among red cells. When it is low, it's a fluke of statistics, and you should ignore it -- lab "normals" are set so that a few healthy folks lie outside. I run a high RDW as a frequent blood donor, and elevation is a common first-hint that something may be unusual; many healthies have high rdw's for various reasons. Labs mean nothing in isolation. ...Read more

What does "rdw" mean when reading blood test results?

What does "rdw" mean when reading blood test results?

RDW: RDW=red cell distribution width. This is a statistical measure or the degree of variation in sizes of the red cells. It is a useful parameter ini classifying anemias that may otherwise be similar, for example iron deficiency and some thalassemias. But other parameters are more generally useful. ...Read more
