High Levels Of Ig M Antibodies
Epidemiology of EBV:
Studies show that the Epstein Barr Virus is ubiquitous in all human populations. Children acquire the disease and seroconvert in the first few years of life. Studies also show that EBV titers are high in young children and then in persons above 50 years old. IGM antibodies are usually seen in early infection IGG antibodies immunity or memory response.

Remote infection: Igm is the first class of antibody made to a microbe and after several months the immune system starts to make igg class of antibodies and then the immune system stops making igm. If all that is found is igg to a particular microbe it means that you were infected over about 6 months to many years previously. ...Read more

What does a high EBV viral nuclear capsid antibody, a high EBV viral capsid antibody IgG and a high IgM EBV viral capsid antibody mean, what's it mean?
Likely immunity,,: You've got antibodies to the ebv which likely means you were infected at some time in your life and you recovered and now your body has circulating antibodies to it. An igg antibody in particular indicates long term resistance. This virus usually causes asymptomatic infection so you probably fought it off and weren't aware of it. Best of luck. ...Read more
What does it mean when your blood test showed candida antibody IgA 1.5. Igm 1.2. Igg 1.9. All high?
Beware: I would be very cautious about any physician or other health care practitioner who proposes to treat you for a candida infection on the basis of bloodwork in the absence of a specific clinical finding of an infection. Labs that promote these tests are strongly linked to fringe medicine. My main concern is that you'll be given inappropriate medication and/or overlook a real health problem. ...Read more

Recent bloodwork showed an IgM level less than 5 mg/dl. Other antibodies are normal. I do not have a spleen. Could this be the reason?
Unlikely: I find your situation interesting — both are immunologic issues. But, not having a spleen would not drop your igm levels. An isolated deficiency of igm (absence of igm) is rare. Usually it is not a problem. It might be related to your gastrointestinal issues. ...Read more
Do you rule out aps if anticardiolipin antibody and beta 2 glycoprotein (both IgG and igm) are often elevated but in borderline and weakly positive range?
See below: There are certain criteria that must be met in order for one to have aps. One of which is that one must have some type of thrombotic event. Antibodies alone do not make the diagnosis. Without knowing full details regarding your case, it is difficult to say whether you do or not. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
