Need more info: It is likely that your gamma globulins are increased causing increase in total proteins. There are many causes of elevated gamma globulins such as, inflammation, liver disease, especially cirrhosis, bone marrow diseases and autoimmune disorders, chronic infections including AIDS, See this site for more info and consult your doctor. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003544.htm ...Read more
Liver blood tests: The liver is an amazing organ- it does many things including making proteins your body needs. Albumin is a major protein product of the liver. Chronic illness can cause that to decline- esp. if you're not eating. Globulins are other proteins usually made to fight diseases like infections- perhaps you've been fighting an illness for a few weeks/months that explain this pattern. ...Read more

What condition(s) causes someone to have high total serum protein, high albumin, normal globulin and high total calcium levels?
Dehydration.: There are no diseases that specifically increase albumin. Therefore in order to get an elevated concentration there must be a decrease in the amount of water in the system. This would also account for the normal globulin. Calcium is bound to Albumin so that elevated Albumin will elevate your calcium levels as well. ...Read more
Hi: What is significance of high IGM, (twice top reference range level), very high IGE, with low IGG, low IGG subclasses, and low IGA? Thanks much!
More info needed: The question asked can be intreperted in many ways. Normally these are levels in relation to a disease. A high IGM means recent infection, a high IGE means something allergic is bothering you and low IGG means less memory antibodies for an old infection. Low IGA is antibody for your gut/intestines. Hopefully this helps. See your doctor for more answers. ...Read more
Means nothing alone: Please forgive my frankness. This mishmash of lab results is meaningless apart from your history and physical exam. Reference ranges for labs are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either end. If you feel well, ignore them. The high hs-CRP may be a heads-up that you've got more atherosclerosis than you think. If you feel well, ignore the rest. ...Read more
May be, may be not: Further evaluation is obviously needed. I can't say whether it is related or not without getting more information. In many cases- probably those two are not related. However in a case of colon cancer with metastatic disease to the liver- it can cause both increase of bilirubin level as well as low iron. Go to see your md and discuss further your condition. ...Read more
I have high iron, high saturated iron, high ferritin, high neutrophils and low lymphocytes oh and low creatinine. Should i be concerned?
Need more info: Lab test results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and is best done by the doctor who ordered the test as s/he likely knows your health history. A doctor needs to know the actual values of the results and more clinical information. ...Read more
Depends on values: Elevated IgA level might just represent an adequate response to an infection. If this is the case, when the infection is gone, the levels would come back to normal. Less common, they could be extremely high and might indicative of a proliferative disorder of the cells that produce the iga. ...Read more
Adnorm. Blood & cfs results: high: CSF protein-47, high cfs albumin-30.9; low total protein-5.7, low gamma globulin-.5, low IgG quantitative -621 worry?
CSF: Some experts consider CSF protein levels to be normal if the value is equal to or below your age in years. I don't think in your case there is a reason to worry. Other CSF components are important as well. Check with your physician to see if there is any reasons to worry. Hope you feel well soon. ...Read more
Speak with your doc: It sounds as if your doctor is doing a diagnostic work up to include your parathyroic gland. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon. ...Read more
Need values: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have helped to know the actual values. It would be prudent to consult your doctor to rule out pre-diabetes or diabetes. ...Read more
I have high albumin, high a/g, low globulin. Why does doc want 2 do protein electrophoresis? I thought globulin was low due 2 my igg3 deficiency.
Ask your doctor: Yes, you may be correct. Your doctor may be looking for something else with a more detailed test. Communicate. If you cannot and it is because of your doctor, find a new one. Good luck and hope this works out. ...Read more
Is elevated kappa/lambda ratio on serum FLC test inherently monoclonal, even if neither kappa or lambda is elevated? Ratio high b/c lambda is low, not because of high kappa. SPEP/UPEP & IFE normal. High IgA, low IgG. Clean marrow biopsy. Polyclonal?
Clinical context : The use of light chains is limited in diseases other than monoclonal gammopathies, such as myeloma or amyloidosis. If this is the context that yours got checked the results do not suggest such a condition. With no gammopathy suggested by results the question regarding clonality has no grounds. As any other test, trending the results would help in integrating it in a meaningful clinical context. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
