What does all this mean? My herpes results from the lab! Doc wasn't helpful
HSV serology: Without knowing specifically what test technique was utilized cannot give you specifics other than to say that you have had Herpes simplex Type 1 infection sometime in the past and probably have not had Type 2, since even though you show some antibody it may be overlap from the Type 1 antibody. Why wasn't the doctor helpful? Talk to them and insist. Why did you do this anyway? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Can B/V and genital warts cause very low WBC and very low neutrophil(absolute ) and high lymphocytes and high mono?
Need values: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have helped to know the actual values. It would be prudent to consult your doctor to rule out pre-diabetes or diabetes. ...Read more
No: Hey Lisa -- If you feel well, simply ignore this stuff unless they're so far off that your physician actually talks to you about them. Reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside on either end. Percentage counts mean nothing. I can shoot my absolute neutrophi count to 20,000 by ice-swimming. Eos must exceed 1500 to even raise an eyebrow; basos are no-worry. ...Read more
I've had years of tests to get answers. I've had high whites, fevers, fatigue, pain high sed rates, high speckle ana, low C3 and now high ch50. Ideas?
Difficult issue: The data you provided is not sufficient to provide a meaningful opinion. One needs a detailed history, physical examination, review of all lab tests and any imaging studies. The data you provided suggests an autoimmune disorder and it may be helpful to consult a rheumatologist. ...Read more
18m/o with high platelet (652), high mono, low neutrophil, high retic and high tsh? What do these mean?
Many possibilities: I dont know of a way to put all of those things together into 1 disorder. A high TSH implies that the thyroid level is low, but this needs to be checked as well as repeating the tsh. The other blood count abnormalities could be due to many possibilities. You would need to see a hematologist about it. ...Read more

Means nothing alone: Please forgive my frankness. This mishmash of lab results is meaningless apart from your history and physical exam. Reference ranges for labs are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either end. If you feel well, ignore them. The high hs-CRP may be a heads-up that you've got more atherosclerosis than you think. If you feel well, ignore the rest. ...Read more

Ebv IgG extremely high positive, low positive rhumetoid, sed rate. I have also significantly high alt. What could it be? I'm referred to rhumetology
Anything: Ebv igg just means that you have been exposed to mono in the past. It doesn't mean anything recent- that's igm. With positive rheumatoid factor and sed rate, the question is whether or not you have rheumatoid arthritis. I'm not sure how the alt fits in- that is showing liver inflammation which would be unrelated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Terminology of risk: We humans apply the high /low designations based on observed behavior. A rattlesnake bite is dangerous a garter snake bite is not, because of individual differences in the snakes. The same goes for HPV in this broad family of dozens of individual strains. Some strains are an inconvenience, triggering a wart in a cosmetically embarrassing site, others can give you cancer and kill you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
