High Fsh Levels
Hello! :) my brother who is in his late 20's is having high FSH level 54. Can you please tell me whether is it alright or if its dangerous? If so what
Testicular failure: Elevations in fsh suggest that the testicular cells responsible for sperm production aren't properly functioning. It is very important to identify the problem as there may be genetic reasons behind it. Additionally, fertility may be affected. Some centers may be able to preserve some sperm cells if he is en route to infertility. Your brother should be seeing an endocrinologist. ...Read more
Fsh is a peptide hormone synthesized in the anterior (forward) pituitary gland in both males and females. The name 'follicle stimulating hormone' refers to its role in females, namely to recruit and prepare an oocyte (egg) in the first half of the menstrual cycle leading up to ovulation. Fsh is often measured in blood to test a woman's ovarian ...Read more
Talk to your doctor: You may try over-the-counter black cohosh and/or soy protein. These are natural sources of estrogen. After talking to your doctor, (s)he may test your testosterone level, and prescribe it if low. Some people may choose to take the newer types of prescription estrogen replacement for a period of time. Others might choose non-estrogen prescription meds that help to relieve hot flashes. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Im 32. TTC for past 4 yrs. not succeeded yet. my hubby reports are normal. in past 3 to 4 months got high FSH levels. is my mucus sperm friendly.?
Don't know: The test to see is called a post-coital or Sims-Huhner test. You have sex at mid-cycle and then go in and the doctor collects a sample and looks at it under a microscope to look at mucous-sperm interaction. This will tell you if there is a problem. If there is, the answer is intrauterine insemination with your husband's sperm. The cervix is by-passed and his sperm is placed in your uterus. ...Read more

Not really.: At age 45, with High FSH and low AMH, indicates that you have DOR. If you take Clomid, (clomiphene) your FSH level will go higher. It is possible that all your follicles will disappear. I suggest you to see a REI doctor to consider donor egg IVF. If it is not an option, you may try natural cycle IVF, banking some embryos for PGS. There is about 5% chance for you may be successful. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Ovuspark: Ovuspark is not available or prescribed in the US so Healthtap doctors are not going to have experience with this medication and follow up with your doctor will be needed. Consistently high LH level, always high lh:fsh ratio, last result showed 14.4 LH to 6.6 fsh. Do I have insulin resistance or hyperinsulinemia?
Maybe (not) . . .: Can't tell anything about Insulin resistance or hyperinsulinemia by measuring your lh & fsh. When you're young & menstruating, your lh & fsh will vary throughout your cycle. Once you go thru menopause, your lh & fsh remain elevated. If you want to determine if you're resistant to Insulin or have high Insulin levels, just measure fasting insulin. ...Read more

High follicle-stimulating hormone (fsh) and luteinizing hormone (lh)--what are normal levels at ovulation?
Took un monitored for 3 cycles and stopped finally got my hormones checked and FSH & test levels were very high can this be the clomid (clomiphene)?
No: Clomid (clomiphene) will not affect fsh levels performed on day 2 or 3. High fsh is a sign of diminished ovarian reserve - lower egg numbers and quality. High testosterone can be a sign of pcos or polycystic ovarian syndrome. See a reproductive endocrinology and infertility (rei) specialist for more detailed testing, and for treatment options. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
