My estrone came back high and my dr says I need to take very high doses of iodine for 2 months to fix it, safe? Is there any other way I can lower it?

My estrone came back high and my dr says I need to take very high doses of iodine for 2 months to fix it, safe? Is there any other way I can lower it?

Confusing: Something not right here. Estrone levels can be high for a variety of reasons. "High" may not be abnormal for you depending upon your cycle. So.... I am not sure that you "need lowering." I cannot see how iodine would affect your estrone level in any case. If this is your regular doc, consider seeing an internal medicine specialist or an endocrinologist. ...Read more

I'm on testosterone therapy, I keep hearing that some of it converts to estrogen. Does it convert to estrone or estrodiol or estriol or all three?

I'm on testosterone therapy, I keep hearing that some of it converts to estrogen. Does it convert to estrone or estrodiol or estriol or all three?

Estradiol: Estradiol is synthesized via aromatase from testosterone. Estrone is synthesized via aromatase from androstenedione. Estriol is synthesized from both Estradiol and estrone. Estradiol is ~10 times as potent as estrone and ~80 times as potent as estriol in its estrogenic effect. In some men on t replacement, too much t is converted to Estradiol and may require a drug like Arimidex (anastrozole) to block. ...Read more
