High Esr And Creatinine Level
My hb is 10 ESR is high. All other reports are normal. Yet serum creatinine remains between 1, 8 to2.2. What may b reason. What remedies. Yes I have bp.
High creatinine: At your age, your elevated serum creatinine (c) is due to chronic kidney disease (ckd). It could be caused by your high bp. See a nephrologist for a 24-hour urine collection for a c clearance and protein. It will give you an exact amount of your kidney function. You will also need a renal ultrasound and some blood work. Once these data are in, a more informed idea can be made about your kidneys. ...Read more

What makes U feel MM: That's an unusual question to ask if you have multiple myeloma. Is that something your pcp has discussed with your? It's not a normal finding that one looks for when a person can't go from sitting to standing easily. There are other more common factors that can do this that needs to be explored further, since you have a diabetic background. Have your doctor do an exam to determine the cause. ...Read more

I have lupus -but my doctor never checks me urine ;but she does a cbc, cmp, esr, complements, cpk, bun, and creatinine. Should i be concerned w/ no ua?
Urine in lupus: Lupus is known to affect the kidneys, however, not in every patient. If there is a concern that your kidneys are affected, you doc should check your urine. It sounds she checks your kidney function by way of creatinine, so she monitors kidney function already. If you have any symptoms related to your kidneys — frequency, urgency, bloody/cloudy urine you need to bring them up to your doc. ...Read more
Stop worrying: The sed rate means absolutely nothing in isolation and is often done wrong in the first place. It's a single piece of information that is only of moderate usefulness in a few unusual clinical situations. I'm a lab specialist and my best advice to is to stop worrying about labs like this, get into a fitness-focused lifestyle, and be thankful for good health. ...Read more
Sedimentation rate: ESR=erythrocyte sedimentation rate. This is a very non-specific lab test that has some degree of correlation with inflammatory processes that alter the inter-cellular reactivity between red cells in the blood. If markedly elevated then careful evaluation for the causes should be sought. ...Read more
Not usually: Pet scans are special imaging tests to localize spots of high metabolic activity, such as with metastatic cancer. High ESR can result from many diseases, and cancer isn't that high on the list. It would be a long jump from ESR to pet scan, unless there was a lot of other data to suggest a use for the pet scan. ...Read more

Inflammation: Esr and CRP levels indicate inflammation. It could be a connective tissue ailment other than fibromyalgia. Also, it could be from teeth and gum disease (periodontal infection) and sinusitis which require treatment. Try a healthy diet with many colorful fruit and vegetables, whole grain, non-fat dairy and fish while avoiding meat and concentrated sweets. This along with aerobic exercise helps. ...Read more
Depends: It's rare that a doc can recommend meds for an asymptomatic patient in good conscience, but dpeending on your other conditions and your overall heart risk, you may be a candidate for a cholesterol med like Lipitor (atorvastatin) or Crestor (statins) which decreases both the cholesterol level itself and the marker of inflammation (the esr). Nothing's free, financially or otherwise so work with your doc to choose. ...Read more
18 years old, ESR level high, think it was 18. She saidit is because im pregnant? Hm not convinced. What's your view? Thanks
Ignore it: As a pathologist, you have my assurance that the ESR / erythrocyte sedimentation means nothing at all in isolation. It's hard to do correctly, a slight elevation really never means a thing, and it's only of value as part of the big picture in diagnosing or following diseases in the lupus / rheumatism family. ...Read more
My recent blood test showed, ESR and RDW levels slightly high, and hematocrit level decreased slightly. Should i be worried?
Lab data: Difficult to comment on lab results without clinical correlation, but you are slightly anemic and if this is iron deficient anemia it may be because of bleeding during your period and may require iron supplementation. The increased ESR and CRP are probably of no consequence. Get an answer to why your hemoglobin is low. Good luck. ...Read more

Had blood test for ESR and CRP again 3rd one and it's gone back very high again would this need testing again to see if levels dropped or not?
?diagnosis: Why are you having these tests for inflammation in your body? If you are being treated for a disease like polymyagia rheumatica, serial sed rates are used to judge treatment efficacy and guide the tapering of medication when the inflammation is under control. Your physician is best qualified to advise you as he/she has all the pertinent information on your case. ...Read more
Did ESR test and it was very high from the normal level... A test was done because of my constant severe pain in both legs... What does it mean?
Nonspecific: The ESR or erythrocyte sedimentation rate is the rate at which red blood cells sink to the bottom of the tube given in mm/hr. It is a non-specific measure of inflammation that has been around since 1897. The ESR tends to rise with age and is higher in women and when anemia is present. There are many reasons for an elevated esr, so the test is not useful for indicating a specific diagnosis. ...Read more
An old woman with very low f. T4=.2 and high level of tsh>100 and tpo = 471 and ldh = 1121 and ESR = 50 what is the most likely cause for that?
Hypothyroidism: Sed rate is not the key here. She probably has autoimmune thyroiditis / hashimoto's because of anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies. She needs to be treated for her hypothyroidism or it will be a disaster. The high ldh might be due to concurrent pernicious anemia, folate (folic acid) deficiency, or any of a few hundred other possibilities. The key is as usual the history and physical exam. ...Read more

POT and Minerals: A twenties female taking Aldactone (spironolactone) and who has dizziness needs blood mineral and thyroid tests.
