What are some natural treatments for reducing high diastolic blood pressure?

Use systolic: For ambulatory or home monitoring, use systolic measurements (the top number) -- the diastolic measurements are less accurate.

Blood Pressure (Definition)

Blood pressure is a measurement of the force placed on the blood vessels and is comprised of the "systolic" pressure (the top number on a blood pressure meter) which is the peak pressure when the heart is pumping, and the "diastolic" pressure (the bottom number on a blood pressure meter) which is the pressure during the resting phase ...Read more

What are some wholesome, natural treatments for reducing high diastolic blood pressure?

What are some wholesome, natural treatments for reducing high diastolic blood pressure?

Exercise; less salt: Reducing salt intake will help to decrease blood pressure. Exercise helps keep the heart healthy and the vascular system elastic enough to provide a good blood pressure.

My husband has high diastolic blood pressure why are tomatoes and sweet peppers bad for him? What food helps reduce it?

My husband has high diastolic blood pressure why are tomatoes and sweet peppers bad for him? What food helps reduce it?

Diastolic BP: Diastolic hypertension is serious. Be sure that a doctor is managing it and follow up is frequent. Tomato and sweet peppers are not bad for hypertension of either category. Both contain antioxidants, which are good, and potassium, which can be good if kidneys are healthy. Best diet for HIBP is low salt, low saturated fat, high polyunsaturated fats, with balance toward mostly plant sources of food.

Second opinion: Diastolic blood pressures over 80 in a 43 year old are not normal and may reflect any number of disorders associated with vascular compliance. I recommend you make an appointment with a heart or kidney doctor as they often have specialized training and experience in hypertension management. Treating your hypertension now will avoid significant problems when you are older.

Is there any connection between feet swelling and high diastolic blood pressure?

Is there any connection between feet swelling and high diastolic blood pressure?

Yes: High diastolic blood pressure keeps the resting pressure in the blood vessels high. This results in more fluid "seeping" out into the surrounding soft tissue -- and usually this is dependent. Feet are dependent -- and so they swell. It can also be due to too much fluid in the system or the heart not being able to push enough blood around.

What might be causing me to have high diastolic blood pressure at only 24?

What might be causing me to have high diastolic blood pressure at only 24?

Multiple: There could be multiple causes including smoking, diabetes, lack of excercise/obesity, high salt diet. Family history also plays a significant role. Diastolic hypertension is more common in younger persons and should be treated. There are also multiple secondary causes that also need to be excluded. See your doctor asap.

Should I be concerned about high systolic and normal diastolic blood pressure?

Should I be concerned about high systolic and normal diastolic blood pressure?

Bp: The first thing we do is recheck the values to be sure they are consistent. If the systolic is only a little bit high, we'd just watch it but if its say more than 150 then we'd consider work up and treatment if necessary. Is your doctor concerned about your blood pressure?

Is it okay to have high systolic blood pressure and low diastolic blood pressure? Is that anything bad?

Is it okay to have high systolic blood pressure and low diastolic blood pressure? Is that anything bad?

Vascular health....: Generally seen with hardening of arteries, a wide pulse pressure is an insight into disease of the vascular system. It is associated with an increase in risk of heart attack and stroke. Lowering the systolic bp, statins, aspirin, diabetes control, smoking cessation, healthy diet and exercise all play a part in decreasing the risk.

What's recommendation if my diastolic blood pressure is high (80-90) but systolic blood pressure is normal (115-125)?

What's recommendation if my diastolic blood pressure is high (80-90) but systolic blood pressure is normal (115-125)?

Since you have: Hypertension I would prefer your blood pressure be in systolic range of 90 to 120 and diastolic of under 75. This can be done by maximizing your medications and also exercise and dietary changes that result in weight loss. Good luck.

What causes high systolic and low diastolic blood pressure in a young athletic man?

What causes high systolic and low diastolic blood pressure in a young athletic man?

Being athletic: This is physiologic rather than pathologic when a large stroke volume, often accompanied by a slow heart rate, is produced by the very strong heart. I've seen it often as a sometime sports physician.

Would it be just fine to have high systolic blood pressure and low diastolic blood pressure?

Wide pulse pressure: When systolic and diastolic are very far apart in the absence of obvious illness, your physician may look for a reason. This can be anything from unrecognized paget's of the bone, hyperthyroidism, aortic valve regurgitation, or just being excited over having your blood presure taken. For now, suggest you follow it closely.

My blood pressure is high sometimes and I am taking inderal (propranolol) for 10 yrs. My diastolic blood pressure sometime 104 is it save for me or change medicine?

See your doctor: A diastolic blood pressure of 104 is too high. Your medication will need to be adjusted. Your doctor knows your medical history and will know whether to adjust your dose, add a medication or change you medication.

What is the lowest heart beat rate that could be considered normal? Also please tell me what the lowest normal diastolic blood pressure is.

What is the lowest heart beat rate that could be considered normal? Also please tell me what the lowest normal diastolic blood pressure is.

Heart rate: Heart rate can be very variable patient to patient an athlete can have a resting hr of 30-40 and that would be normal. It really depends if you are dizzy of lightheaded. Below 40 in most ppl is a bit too low.
