High Creatine Kinase Levels In Blood Test
HIgh protein level: High blood protein (hbp) level can be caused by dehydration causing bengin elevation of proteins. Other more serious causes of hbp are chronic inflammation, ameyloidosis, hiv/aids, multiple myeloma and monoclonical gammopathies. I would suggest your seeing an hematologist if the cause of your hbp is not due to dehydration as soon as you can to arrive at the correct cause of your hbp level. ...Read more
Creatine kinase is an enzyme found in muscles throughout the body. There are different subtypes of the enzyme, called isoforms, which predominate in different organs. For instance, the isoform in skeletal muscles is different from that which is most heavily found in the heart muscle. A blood tests detects levels of this in the body, for example if ...Read more
Blood test report: homocysteine level high/ blood platelets low/ bilirubin high. What could be wrong?
Big picture please: As a lab doctor, this means nothing in isolation. I appreciate your caring & this is no familiar pattern. Is the person clinically healthy? How off are the values? Vegetarians and junk-fooders are equally at risk for high homocysteine as are folks with genetic disease. Bilirubin -- gilbert's? Platelets -- gin and tonic? This isn't something to discuss in a 400-character text thx 4 understanding. ...Read more
Repeat / start worup: High sgot/liver enyzme levels are quite common but do need a workup. Causes range from having gotten drunk a few days previous to taking iboprofen to lack of physical fitness to life-threatening, treatable illnesses like viral or autoimmune hepatitis / hemochromatosis / wilson's / drug allergy. Your physician knows the right way to proceed for you. ...Read more
BUN and creatinine: If you have high BUN and creatinine levels, you may be dehydrated or you may have chronic kidney disease. Ask the physician who ordered the blood test for an opinion as to the cause of the high levels in the blood. The physician knows the patient best and can give a more meaningful answer to your question. Good luck. ...Read more
Can serum potassium levels be normal while red blood cell potassium levels are low? When is the red cell potassium test used?
My hormone tests came in with high 3α-Androstanediol, high aldrosterone, high aldosterone, high 5a-THB, elevated 5α-reductase, and low 11b-hydroxyetiocholanolone. What can this mean?
Tests steroid metab: Apparently you are undergoing a work up for steroid and male hormones/androgen metabolism. These are unusual blood tests, and typically only performed when, usually a specialist, has a specific diagnosis in mind. I'm certain you can receive a better, more satisfying explanation by working with the doctor who ordered these tests. Pursuing that is your best option. Good wishes:) ...Read more
24-hr salivary cortisol tests showed dangerously low levels. One-off blood test showed abnormally high levels. Treatment with hc denied. Advice?
I'm puzzled: Please forgive my confusion. Have you had an acth stimulation test? With your history, you are right to be concerned about autoimmune addisonism. If you feel as if you have this, and/or are confused by your labs or have poor rapport with the physician who worked you up, it's time for another opinion. Stay proactive and good luck. ...Read more
What condition(s) causes someone to have high total serum protein, high albumin, normal globulin and high total calcium levels?
Dehydration.: There are no diseases that specifically increase albumin. Therefore in order to get an elevated concentration there must be a decrease in the amount of water in the system. This would also account for the normal globulin. Calcium is bound to Albumin so that elevated Albumin will elevate your calcium levels as well. ...Read more
I had a spot on adrenal gland, blood work results were high aspartate aminotransferase level, low phosphate level and high platelet mean volume. help.
Test results: You are analyzing your test results and getting panicky. Relax. Talk to your doctor, who is in the best position to connect the dots. A "spot" on the adrenal may be nothing and the other test results may not be significant either. Test results need to be interpreted in the context of your symptoms and physical exam, and how much outside the normal range. ...Read more
Will high bloodsugar cause low creatin levels in urine? I had blood sugar levels of 300 and above and recently took a drug test that came back having low creatin levels.
Diluted urine: A low creatinine is not from elevated sugars, but from excessive water drinking, which is common in diabetics. It means you are drinking enough water to dilute your urine. It is not dangerous, but most drug tests will be considered "adulterated" - a failed test - if the creatinine is below 20. Get your diabetes under control asap. Continued high sugars are dangerous to your health. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is it possible to have high creatinine, high blood urea nitrogen and high potassium levels simultaneously?
Absolutely yes: This is exactly what is seen with kidney (renal) failure. I am not making a diagnosis on this information alone. I can only advise strongly that anyone with elevation in bun, cr and potassium, as listed above, should see his/her physician immediately. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
No: Tsh or thyroid stimulating hormone is only good for assessing thyroid function (either good, overactive or underactive). With that said, during that same blood draw, your blood could potentially be checked for testosterone to determine how much you have. This is best done in the morning. Remember that we really should treat the person (and symptoms), not just a number. Make sure benefit > risk. ...Read more

Blood test: low vit d levels, very high creatinine and cholesterol.. what could that mean? Thanks in advance.
See a doctor: High creatinine levels can be a sign of damaged kidneys. That needs more evaluation. You need to see a doctor for that. Low vitamin D is common and it would be a good idea to take a supplement. Learn more here - https://www.vitamindcouncil.org. There is a lot of controversy about cholesterol. As long as your HDL is 50 or higher and your triglycerides are less than 100 don't need to be concerned. ...Read more
See MD immediately: Copper levels in the body are very tightly controlled. Excess levels can occur when elimination is reduced, such as Wilson's disease, or when there is excessive intact (deliberate or by accident). This can lead to neurologic, blood cell, liver, kidney and muscle damage. Elevation of CPK is often a sign of muscle damage. You must see a MD immediately to determine cause and possible treatment. ...Read more
