TSH level: 0, T3/T4 normal, cortisol thru the roof, lymphocytes elevated, BP: 160/100 and waking @ 3am. MD saying it's hypothyroid. I disagree. Help?
Cushing syndrome: Cortisol thru the roof is Cushing syndrome until ruled out. Our job is to figure out why this is happening. Taking steroids can do this but shouldn't affect thyroid. I'd be more concerned about pituitary adenoma which can cause both Cushing AND central hypothyroidism (usually low TSH means hyperthyroidism) but in case of space occupying lesion in pituitary, it may put out ACTH in favor of TSH. ...Read more
Dear sir, how do I should know the symptoms of low cortisol. Because it has same symptoms with hypothyroidism, which I have ?
No: Cortisol is made by the adrenal glands whereas hypothyroidism refers to low levels of thyroid hormone from the thyroid gland. Having one does not cause the other. Low cortisol (adrenal insufficiency) is a rare disorder, typically autoimmune related, and must be diagnosed correctly, not simply by a low cortisol level. ...Read more

Is a deficiency in vitamin d, hight cortisol and prolactin, too much LDL cholesterol a sign of hypothyroid ? Symptoms dry skin, astheny and low libido
Forgive my frankness: Your lack of vitamin d is probably the result of your getting too little in your diet and not getting enough sunlight. A spot cortisol is of little value except as a screen for addison's which i will assume is ruled out. Your high prolactin and low libido in a man with some serious acne like you're being treated for makes me suspect strongly that you have a prolactinoma. ...Read more

What hormone imbalances can cause excessive face/head sweating? I have underactive thyroid, kidney disease, & low cortisol levels. Can these diseases?
The thyroid makes thyroid hormone, the main one is t4, which is converted in other tissues to t3. An underactive thyroid makes too little thyroid hormone. You feel sluggish, bloated, constipated, cold. It is treated by taking replacement hormone levothyroxine. The thyroid also makes calcitonin, which is involved in calcium metabolism, but it is a weak hormone in ...Read more
