Eat less animal fat: For slightly high cholesterol, you can change your diet by decreasing your carbs and dairy intake since that seems to be a bigger source of animal fat for women than eating beef/pork and can change your ldl. Also, adding exercise, fiber through more plants, red yeast rice found in canada since they still have the statin like part, and cholestoff found at drug stores. Also use coq10 before statin. ...Read more

High Cholesterol (Definition)

Cholesterol, a fat made by all our cells, has never been the correct issue but was promoted because (as a fat within all lipoprotein particles) it was cheaper to measure & if very high (esp. Fasting) tended to correlate with high LDL particle concentrations. In the later 1970's lipoprotein measurements cost $5, 000/sample. The NMR particle test, <$100, brought the LDL costs way ...Read more

However, when combined with a statin, it can give much more significant LDL lowering. Ask your doctor if this medication is right for you. Welchol (colesevelam) is a cholesterol absorption blocker of a different type, which may also be effective. ...Read more

I have high cholesterol. My LDL level is 4.84 and i'm starting my meds. My HDL is fantastic though. I want to get pregnant. What can I do?

OffMeds ForTimeBeing: Ldl & HDL are lipoproteins, i.e. Protein particles which carry all fats in the water outside cells. Ldl is always in nmol/l, best <700, HDL in ┬Ámol/l, best large-hdl >10. See NMR particle test, <$100. Ldl particles are the primary driver of ds. Cholesterol is a fat made by every body cell, not best test, ldl-c calculated, not measured & often misleading but cheaper. ?? sugar/carb best option. ...Read more
