How high alp levels to be concerning?

How high alp levels to be concerning?

This is a lab value, not something you treat. It's merely there to point to possible causes if you get sick. In this respect it's very different from SGOT/AST and SGPT/ALT, which if high generally point to serious illness. ...Read more

Alk phos, right?: Alkaline phosphatase is often above normal in certain healthy folks who've eaten recently. Its lone elevation in a healthy person seldom leads to discovery of significant illness. If your transaminases are up also, it's time to look for hep b and c, and also hemochromatosis, wilson's, and autoimmune hepatitis. ...Read more

16 month old not thriving. Swollen lymph nodes. High ALP, High Eosinophil's, low HCT, low ferritin, + Vit D. Low IgA. What could be wrong with her?

Swollen glands.: It is hard to tell what is wrong without detailed history & physical examination, did she have fever at any time? How long these glands have been swollen? Are they localized or generalized, any enlarged spleen? Has she been failing to thrive since birth? It is obvious she was seen by her pediatrician, for the anemia & swollen glands she need a referral to a pediatric hematologist. Good luck. ...Read more
