Hiccups In 5 Year Old Child
5yr old f healthy has had random hiccups for 24 hrs on and off. Don't last long. Otherwise healthy. Should I worry about cancer? Read that online
Hiccups: Hiccups have many causes and most are related to common reasons such as rapid eating and air swallowing. If they are brief and non persistent and have a common explanation that is reassuring. If they become more persistent have her reviewed by her Pediatrician to look for other causes. All the best.
My 2.5 yr old daughter some days (1 or 2 days a month) has the hiccups on and off (6 - 7 times a day). Is this normal? Her checkup was ok...
5 yr old has random hiccups 3x a day twice a month. Lasts for a couple minutes. Worried mom. Any ideas. Should I contact ped?
Hiccoughs: Hiccoughs are generally benign but if they are occurring with the frequency that you are saying that they are, I would definitely have him seen by his pediatrician. Have them get a good listen to his chest, etc. Irritation of the nerve to the muscle between the lungs and the abdomen (the diaphragm) usually causes the hiccough. It's generally not worrisome, but I think that he should be evaluated
Healthy 5 yr old f gets hiccups every couple of weeks for a 24 hr period only lasts for couple of min but will come back that day help cancer??
Not likely cancer: Hiccupping every few weeks for a few minutes does not sound worrisome or abnormal. You may want to discuss your concern about cancer with your pediatrician; are there other symptoms that concern you?
My child is five years old and says he has stomach pains around the belly button. Poop is normal so far.?
Need more info: Does your child have any past medical history? Is your child having fevers? How often is your child having the pain and is it after eating? Pain around the belly button is very common and kids can have it for many reasons including emotional reasons. That is why it is very important to document when your child is complaining. If your child is having fevers with the pain please see your doctor.
I am a male aged 53 years and my wife is 38 years old. We have a kid which is five years old. We would like to have a another baby. Is it possible?
Absolutely!: You most likely have viable sperm still. You have already proven that you can do it by having your 5yo. The fact that your wife is still in her 30s is great, because the risks of pregnancy and baby-trouble in 40yo mothers is much greater. I would say, "go for it! ".See 1 more doctor answer
Anything above 104: When temperatures rise to those levels they will produce significant discomfort, and are approaching near 105, above which the potential for seizures and brain damage may begin to manifest. See a doctor.
Yes, if...: ...The herb id safe, such as chamomile or rosehips. Many aren't, especially ones in "weight control" teas.
No: You need to talk with your child's provider and discover the cause of the problem. There are also specialists in pediatric sleep disorders.
It may be encopresis: Encopresis can be caused by physical or psychological problems but is usually a result of chronic constipation. Your child should be seen by his pediatrician who may refer you to a specialist. For further work up or treatment. This condition may have serious medical or psycho-social consequences for the child and should be diagnosed treated expeditiously.See 1 more doctor answer
Ignore: The more they are ignored the less they happen-- kids like attention for bad behavior if you respond with anger or horror they will be posite reenforced and happend more--.
Varies: Unless you are dealing with a very obese child or a child that is failing to thrive, you are not generally going to count carbs in this age group. Rather, concentrate on providing a good, well balanced diet with some fruits, lots of vegetables, whole grains and lean meats. If you are doing this, and your child is a healthy weight and growing appropriately, then the carb count is good.
Not an easy task: Have you discussed this with your doctor and or a behavior therapist? I do not think there is a short answer to this....Understanding how your child sees things my help you find a strategy he/she can accept...Homeopathy and chinese medicine may also be very helpful by looking at the whole picture and finding the root cause.
10 mg/kg/dose: With doses every four hours is the maximum recommended. With high fever, one can give a slightly higher first dose then the rest of the doses should be 10mg/kg or 120 mg per dose. If you need to do this for longer than 2-3 days your child will need to be examined.
Probably nothing: It's a long release medication so one pill will probably do nothing. I wouldn't worry about it unless he is allergic to the pill.
What would cause low lymphocite in nearly 5 year old child, doctor said between 6-9 but hers is 2.1 and 3.2. Had it 3 months what's wrong?
Many causes: Sometimes it can be from a viral infection, sometimes from more serious causes. Please take her to a pediatric hematologist or your pediatrician for evaluation.
5 year old diabetic.: Ask a diabetologist or pediatric endocrinologist. Do not go to others unless these are not available.See 1 more doctor answer
Other symptoms are?: The average 5 yo will go thru 5-7 viral respiratory & GI illnesses per year, many of which will generate fever upwards of 102-103.It is a normal response to illness & doesn't signal severity of a problem. If the kid is playful, taking fluids well & has no scary complaints, the best person to evaluate the child is your regular dr. If quiet, refusing fluids, in obvious pain or showing scary sx go.
