Hibiclens And Scabies
Do i need to treat my minor, reoccurring MRSA lesions with an antibiotic? Currently using hibiclens and antibacterial soap. Currently treating the MRSA lesions with hibiclens and dial antibacterial soap. Letting the lesions drain and keeping them covered.
My : My short answer to your question is no, minor lesions need not be treated. Continued and misguided use of antibiotics can cause resistance to arise in other organisms in your body. Some of the lesions that are popping up are likely results of colonizations. The hibiclens your using is excellent. It leaves an invisible anti-bacterial coating on the skin to decrease skin colonization numbers. Continue to do this. Many docs will try using sulfa and clindamycin...These too commonly fail anyway and are not parts to my regimens. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Itchy all over, esp scalp. Allergic to all enviro items, but on Flonase with clean house and it's winter. Dry skin. VERY itchy!
See doctor: There are many causes for generalized itching but i would suggest that you first avoid using any strong or scented soap and apply a skin moisturizer immediately after bathing. Anxiety can induce or worsen itching as well. For the scalp itching: Wet hair->apply sesame oil->shampoo gently after 15 minutes may be helpful. Rx cortisone spray /solution may also be needed if above failed. ...Read more

Poison oak care: Potent topical steroid for a few days may be needed to clear the acute lesions. Clean every article which might possibly been touched by the poison oak resin with laundry detergent (shoes, clothing, car seat, car mat, tools, sports equipment ), else you will get it back again. You may try Aloe vera or Arnica but topical steroid would be your best bet. Not an infection, polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) not needed. ...Read more
Is it bad to wash my scalp and hair with dial white bar soap? I'm allergic to shampoos and conditioners.
May not be best: Dial isn't the name most would recommend for sensitive skin, given its traditional product has scent and coloring additives. However a new line might prove itself. Less so for hair. Patch tests can identify allergy to chemicals in shampoos and conditioners, and may help you find hair products that don't trigger allergic contact dermatitis. ...Read more

What's the difference between anti-bacterial soap, regular soap, and soap-free body wash? Do they all clean the same?
Soap: The anti-bacterial soap will contain triclosan. This is the anti-bacterial part, both contain soap to solubilize the oils and wash away dirt. The soap free probably does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate the main ingredient of soap, but you can look at the ingredients to see the difference. Triclosan is a redundant ingredient and a contributor to bacterial resistance. ...Read more
