Is it poss. Cancer? Us results thyroid nodule: solid, heterogeneous & isoechoic nodule w/in the mid to lower right lobe, 4.2cm, increas. Vascularity
Yes it's possible : Any thyroid nodule over 4 cm needs to be removed surgically to make sure not cancerous per ata guidelines. I would still get a fna first before going to surgery but needs to be removed. More info on my website on thyroid nodules at www.Cvsurgicalgroup.Com. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
It means irregular: Heterogeneous is the opposite of homogenous. Any thyroid nodule which is irregular and over 1cm in size needs to be investigated further. This may need a biopsy especially if it is growing or has increased in size over a period of 3 months. You should have your doctor guide you or send you to an endocrinologist. For a second opinion and further advice. ...Read more
I have several heterogeneous thyroid nodules and cysts with 7mm biggest in size. what does this indicate?
Are heterogeneous complex thyroid nodules degenerating adenomas and have to be removed if peripherally vascular?
It depends: Thyroid nodules are mostly ( 80-90%) benign . But it depends on their size and rate of change(growth in their size). A repeat Ultrasound study of your Thyroid should be done(I am sure your doctor must have advised you to do so)) in 6 to 12 months time to reassess for any growth in the nodules in your Thyroid. ...Read more
Is a heterogeneously hypoechonic nodule 1.4x1.1x1.1cm thyroid nodule with microlobulated margins with no calcifications is a possible malignant one?
No definite answer.: There's no way to know from an ultrasound whether a thyroid nodule is malignant or benign. Don't be fooled by Radiologist - all imaging is limited in its ability to diagnose these conditions. The only way to tell for certain about malignancy is to undergo a biopsy. In the mean time, an iodine uptake-and-scan could help. You'll need blood tests & the help of an endocrinologist as well. Use HT Prime ...Read more
I have a tyroid nodule, 1.6 x .9 x 3 cm. heterogeneously attenuating predominantly cystic right thyroid nodule. What's it mean and could it be cancer?
Thyroid: Its highly unlikely to be cancer. The odds favor this being a thyroglossal duct cyst. Pts often present at you age. You don't say where exactly your mass is. TDC is usually near midline. Another possibility is a branchial cleft cyst which is also a congenital problem. Your docs may want to do a CT guided fine needle biopsy. Hang in there. I think you will be fine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I just had fna done on 1 of 3 thyroid nodules and report say 3cm heterogeneous soild nodule w/small cystic components, what does this mean?
Does a homogeneous or heterogeneous solid thyroid nodule have more cancer risk? I see lots of info on heterogeneous but not on homogeneous.
Depend solid or cyst: Thyroid nodule either solis or cystic and that could be done by ultrasound next it has to be classified as cold or hot or warm and that could be done by thyroid scan if it is solid and cold have higher tendency to be malignant oat of thyroid nodules are benign if it is of some concern the doctor will perform fine needle aspiration to exclude malignancy you should be under doctor carei ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Nodule on thyroid . Then did a FNA . The result was 1.7cm "Left thyroid nodule is heterogeneous & mildly hypoechoic. Any reason to worry?
I have a heterogeneous hypoechoic thyroid nodule with solid components, internal vascularity and calcifications. Is there a chance this is cancer?
Thyroid nodule at 3.4 x 4.7 x 2.3cm. Blood tests confirm all is normal. Ultrasound shows heterogeneous iso/small area hypechoic. Chances of cancer?
Solid heterogeneous thyroid nodule 15mm to 3cm in 2 years and normal TSH levels. If it is cancer, could it have spread over the 2 years? Fna tomorrow.
Will a surgeon remove thyroid nodules 3.0cm heterogeneous solid ifwith diffussly enlarged thyroid if fna comes back ok. I have hashimoto thyroiditis?
If the FNA: Is definitively "negative" not just inconclusive, many endocrinologists would just observe and follow-up at a later date w/repeat lab, exam and ultrasound. There are other factors as well, and best discussed with your endocrinologist. ...Read more
What is the treatment for a well defined heterogenous psychoechoic slightly solid thyroid nodule?
Monitor: Depends on the size of the nodule, you might need a biopsy to make sure it is benign. At the very least, you need to follow the nodule with another ultrasound in a year to make sure it is not growing or significantly changing. The only curative treatment is surgery which is the decision between you and your physician. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Hashimoto's disease?: A very common thyroid condition, known as hashimoto or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis -- is when the body's immune system attacks the thyroid gland. This can cause an enlarged inefficient thyroid gland (large size of ultrasound measurements) and scarred heterogeneous appearance (in ultrasound description). Eventually many patients will become hypothyroid. Thyroid antibody levels are usually high. ...Read more
