Depends on situation: If you had chicken pox then you risk getting shingles. Vaccination the best way to lower the risk of getting shingles; the severity of pain and complications are signifantly decreased. Acyclovir is used for therapy, but is most effective witihn 48-72 hrs of an outbreak. Death from shingles is rare but can happen esp in pt with impaired immunity. ...Read more

Lagophthalmos causes: Lagophthalmos the inability to close the eyelid completely. This results from damage to the 7th cranial nerve or 'facial' nerve. There are many possible causes such as trauma, stroke, tumors, Bell's palsy, Lyme disease or other rare causes. Don't know if your: Doc has you on Acyclovir or similar. Also, zostrix (capsaicin) vaccine may decrease future outbreaks. Prednisone can be helpful & is safe if used for short period of time -can help limit long term neuralgia. The only supplement i know of is lysine 500-1000mg 3x/ day during outbreak but it can interact w some antibiotics so check w doc. If outbreak is orotund eyes please see doc to check for eye involvement. ...Read more
