Possibly: Prevention for recurrent herpetic infection for the eye has been demonstrated in the herpetic eye disease study (heds) which showed that oral antivirals (acyclovir) at a low dosage for an extended period of time does lower the risk for recurrence significantly. Please see your eye doc or a cornea specialist who will be able to help you with this. Also keeping a strong immune system is important. ...Read more

Weigh risks: Not sure i completely understand, but if you were diagnosed with rubella or CMV early in pregnancy, there could be some serious effects on the baby. How far along are you? Not really...: The way you ask the question, I assume you mean some sort of chronic neurological problem. The answer is a definite no; HSV doesn't do that. Recurrent outbreaks can be preceded by "prodrome" of tingling or pain, which has a neurological origin. And rarely HSV2 can cause recurrent outbreaks of the membranes covering the brain, with recurrent aseptic meningitis. Otherwise no neurological worries. ...Read more
