Which tablets?: Pills for fungus---terbinafine-----are not effective for yeast. Usual yeast pill, fluconazole, is a single dose, sometimes repeated in a week. Yeast is certainly not the only cause of vaginal itch. Fungus is usually not that itchy. So see a GYN or dermatologist. You need to provide precise information about symptoms and about all pills or treatments. ...Read more

Depends on cause: Although you are being treated for herpes, itching may have other causes including stds, vaginal infection, skin conditions, allergic reaction to condoms, gels, soap, sprays, even your partner's semen. You may find relief changing the medication, the dosage, or frequency. Wear cotton underwear or none when possible (to air out the vaginal area). Use good wiping technique. Itching : Itching and dryness can definitely be a sign of menopause. A patient with itching could try using increased lubrication or a feminine product for itching such as vagisil, or could ask the pharmacist for recommendations. If a patient had any discharge or pain then the patient should be evaluated.
