Herpes Simplex 1 And 2 Ig G And Ig M
I got lab results: herpes simplex 1 IgG 29.4, herpes simplex 2 IgG 13.7 both positive, but herpes simplex 1 & 2 ivm negative <0.5 what does this mean?
Have wrong info. Herpes 1 IgG positive. Herpes II IgG indeterminate. How is herpes 1 transmitted via flu or cold sores stress?
Herpes simplex: Herpes simplex is transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected individual.Transmission may also occur through skin-to-skin or mucous membrane contact during periods of asymptomatic shedding. Barrier protection methods are the most reliable method of preventing transmission of herpes, but they merely reduce rather than eliminate risk. ...Read more

Whats the meaning of Herpes Type 1 IgG- Serum Positive, Herpes Type 2 IgG - Serum Negative and Herpes 1+2 IgM Ab Serum Negative? Thats my results
HSV1, no HSV2: The results mean you are carrying herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1), usually from oral infection in childhood, so you probably have had it for years. But if you have had symptoms that suggest genital herpes, it could be a genital infection. You do not have HSV2, the usual cause of genital herpes. I takes up to 12 weeks for positive results, so these results do not exclude recent infection. ...Read more

What does all this mean? My herpes results from the lab! Doc wasn't helpful
HSV serology: Without knowing specifically what test technique was utilized cannot give you specifics other than to say that you have had Herpes simplex Type 1 infection sometime in the past and probably have not had Type 2, since even though you show some antibody it may be overlap from the Type 1 antibody. Why wasn't the doctor helpful? Talk to them and insist. Why did you do this anyway? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
HSV 1 and 2 IgG are negative but HSV IgM I/II combination came back positive at 2.28. Do I have herpes?
Maybe: The Ig M titer is the titer that shows initial infection, with time it will change to a positive IgG. These of course are lab values. If you have symptoms then it is confirmation of HSV. HSV 1 is oral or common lip blisters. HSV2 is genital herpes. Unusual that both HSV 1 and 2 are turning positive at same time. In any event both are ubiquitous in the population. ...Read more

Got tested for herpes 1 and 2. Herpes 1 IgG positive. Ehat does this mean? Herpes IgM indeterminate. What dies this mean. I have genital cuts.
Any lab; talk to doc: These tests are available through just about any lab in the US. But speak with your doctor first. The chlamydia blood test is useless for diagnosing current infection. Although sometimes used in evaluating female infertility, for current infection you need a urine or vaginal swab test. Also be wary about HSV (herpes) blood testing except with doctor's advice. Confusing results are common. ...Read more
No: Not really good or bad--nearly all adults have positive antibodies to herpes (HSV) and most of that is HSV 1--this is the virus that causes oral cold sores mostly, though can cause genital lesions. HSV 2 usually causes genital herpes--lesions in the genital area--but can cause oral herpes too. Being negative for HSV 2 just means you've never had that type of herpes. \. ...Read more

Meaning? Is 14.20 bad/high? Should I retest?
No outbreak so far.
Herpes type 2: You carry herpes simplex type 2-------genital herpes. It is very common and most people who have it have no symptoms. Even though they have no symptoms, or fail to recognize subtle symptoms or non-genital lesions, they may transmit the virus to others. You do not have herpes simplex type 1, which is not common. Most people carry hsv 1 without symptoms. This is important to intimate partners. Disc ...Read more

Usually oral: Herpes infections are described as type i (oral /cold sores)or type ii(genital). However, either type can cause affect either location. Igg antibody detected by a blood test. & indicates one has been exposed to the virus at least several weeks prior &possibly much longer- as in years. Most people who have HSV antibody have no idea that they have herpes. ...Read more
Acute vs. chronic: Igm antibodies appear after recent infection and then disappear. Igg antibodies come later and persist, indicating chronic or past infection. In the case of herpes, the IgM is not widely used, because acute herpes is typically diagnosed based on clinical appearance or culture results. A positive igg indicates the presence of herpes, which is a chronic recurring infection. ...Read more
Old or recent herpes infection? Herpes 6 ab panel blood results: herpes virus 6 igm neg:<1:10<1:10(my value) herpes virus 6 IgG pos<.99 mine 13.56
I don't get it: Herpes 6 is the roseola virus which infects nearly all of us since early childhood. There is speculation about some possible indirect relationship to multiple sclerosis. It is not an std! it is not the same as herpes simplex which is responsible for genital herpes or cold sores (hsv 2, hsv1). Why test for hsv6?. Acyclovir will yield no benefit for this unless you have a (rare) acute hh6 infe. ...Read more
