IgG mature antibody: Yes, but surprising. If you have no other blood test history then we cannot really tell you that an exposure eight weeks is the one that infected you. Igg antibodies are the mature antibodies and usually take more time. ...Read more
Herpes: No; Cell culture or PCR test may give a false-negative result if the sores have begun healing or if you are recently infected. It takes several weeks for HSV antibodies to show up in the blood. PCR and cell culture tests show that you have been exposed to the virus at some point. Your doctor may choose to do both or neither based on the physical examination. ...Read more
Neg herpes test 4months post exposure. What is the chance it would be neg due to IgG levels being low if I was having a recurrence?

Both husband and I ttested positive for herpes 1 IgG and herpes 2 indeterminate, igg. What does that mean? Who is the carrier? How do u get herpes
Here is the best we can do today. If the igg is indeterminate then your physician must order the herpes western blot test. Knowing if you have hsv two if vital.
Herpes is two separate viruses. Type one, the 'oral' herpes or 'simplex' herpes is found in 75% of americans and is usually transmitted to one during childhood.
Herpes type two or hsv is thought to be the std version. Skin to skin. ...Read more
Usually yes: Once in a while it takes up to 4 months for the HSV IgG test to become positive. If you had typical herpes symptoms, another test might be a good idea. But if you had no symptoms and you were just looking for reassuance after a high risk exposure, I would recommend against any further testing. ...Read more
Some viral shedding: Although the chance of transmission is highest during an active outbreak, there is still a very small chance of transmitting/spreading the infection without outbreak as some viral shedding occurs all the time. If you have frequent outbreak, consult your doc for suppressive treatment as there are quite a few options available these days. Good luck. ...Read more

What does a 9.9 on a herpes IGG test mean? That number is higher than other results posted in forums so I wanted to see if that is a normal result.
Depends on test: There are several HSV IgG antibody tests, with different numbers for positive results. The most common is HerpeSelect®, for which 9.9 is strongly positive. For other tests this may be negative. If you have the lab report, it should show numbers for negative, indeterminate, and positive, separately for HSV1 and HSV2. Or contact and discuss with the doctor or lab where test was done. Good luck! ...Read more

Antibodies: A positive herpes igg means you have antibodies to the herpes virus. If you test positive for igg and negative for igm, your herpes infection is probably not recent - i.e. From the past 2 months. The test is not always accurate; if you have never had a herpes infection it could be a false positive, and you should have it repeated. ...Read more
Are IgG blood tests accurate for herpes? If they are and it's not herpes my bf and I had than what could it of been?
Igg testing is the common way viral infections are tested for. These tests are in general very accurate, except early in an infection. A mature (ogg) antibody can take three to six months to reach maturity.

Herpes' IGG result 17.40 at 5th week after exposure - can one get that high result? Or could it be false positive? Should I rest to confirm? When?
Need more info: You don't mention which Herpes virus you were exposed to and what the exposure was. The high IgG titer may be correct. Many adults have IgG antibodies to Herpes simplex virus type 1, with or without overt infection. Most, but not all, genital infections are due to Herpes simplex type 2.
