Herpes In Older Women
64 year old female. ....Non sexuallyy active......Contracted herpes 2...... What are possible ways of aquiring.......Thank you kindly?
Old infection: The most likely explanation is that you acquired it some time in the past when you were sexually active, and just had a recent outbreak.
There are different types of herpes infections; herpes simplex infection of mouth (gingivostomatitis) and lips (labialis) are the most common. Others include genital herpes, and herpes zoster. Herpes infection could very mild to very dangerous depending on the type and location of the body affected. I ...Read more
Herpes infection: Clinical symptoms of herpes eruption range from no eruptions at all even though the person has an infection to eruptions coming very closely together like 1-2 times a month for a person with a fully functional immune system. Stress, being ill, sun exposure and other stimuli can increase frequency of eruptions. People whose immune systems are weakened get frequent or continuous eruptions.
It may be vaginitis: It's probably not yeast if you have treated your self already for this. It may be a vaginitis. The best way to find out is with a vaginal exam. Other organisms like Chlamidia, over growth of natural bacteria, vaginal dryness, even the different days during the menstrual cycle make our hormones change the Ph, or acidity, of the vagina. Also vaginal douches may cause changes in the flora of the vagi
Herpes: There is no cure for herpes. You will need to see your doctor for definitive diagnosis and possibly be started on anti-viral medication such as Valtrex (valacyclovir) to expedite the resolution of an outbreak or to prevent outbreak in the future. You mush avoid direct contact with another when you have an active eruption.
Hello I am a 32 yr old female in quite a difficult situation. My bf finally told me he may have genital herpes. Can a dr. Please advise on protection?
I would consider: Checking to see if u have antibodies, if so you have already been exposed. Otherwise he can decrease the amount of virus he is shedding by using valacyclovir 500 mg or 1 gm per day, condom use also recommended. This will dramatically reduce the chances of getting it but if he feels iit coming on, refrain of course.
I am a 35 year old women and got diagnosed with genital herpes about 4 months ago. Is it possible that I could have had herpes for years and not know?
Herpes is Silent: Yes. Of course. That is why anyone who knows anything about herpes is encouraging all sexually active adults to have the blood tests to know their status. It is now thought that up to 90% of those infected do not get sores and do not know they are infected.
I am 28 yrs old female herpes patient. I have been under medication and treatment for 3 years now. But vaginal itching persists. Is there any cure?
Depends on cause: Although you are being treated for herpes, itching may have other causes including stds, vaginal infection, skin conditions, allergic reaction to condoms, gels, soap, sprays, even your partner's semen. You may find relief changing the medication, the dosage, or frequency. Wear cotton underwear or none when possible (to air out the vaginal area). Use good wiping technique. I have had herpes since 1997, I get it on my face and hands, never anywhere else. I am taking 2400mg of acyclivor every day and am still having outbreaks...Will this damage my liver and can I become immune to this medicine? I am 41 yrs old and female.
Sure it's herpes?: That's very high dose daily suppressive rx if immune competent; and high end of dosing if immune incompetent. Maybe it's not herpes. Seen a dermatologist? Or infectious disease doc? Could be dermatitis herpetiformis (look alike rash, often associated with celiac sprue), or other underlying immunological issue. There are other anti herpes meds available as well.
I am 25yr old female and was infected with gonnorhea twice and I have genital herpes, am I at risk for blocked fallopian tubes?
38 yr old female married 19 yrs throat red w/white spot right side soft palette area. Dr said strep or herpes, never had herpes in my life why say it?
I am 28 year old female. .. m married and miscarriage because of rubella IgG. .. and now reports showed that m having herpes simplex type 2 IgM 2.50?
What's the question?: The presence of rubella IgG means that you were protected against rubella and thus it was not the cause for your miscarriage. Assuming the HSV2 is positive, you will need to talk to your OB doctor regarding this issue even though I am not aware that this is causing miscarriage. I still don't understand your question however.
71 yr old female. Pain on outside portion of left ear. Had herpes zoster virus of left ear 15 yrs ago. No blisters. Symptoms began last night.?
Possible herpes: If she did not have anything outside the ear look inside the ear canal you may find one or two, if you find them that is it. If you do nt search for other reasons.
I'm a 22 year old female who is 8 weeks pregnant. I have a breakout on my vagina and I'm scared it's genital herpes. In some bumps you can see the hai?
No risk for baby: Make sure your obstetrician knows about this and your concern for herpes. She will know how to prevent any risk to your baby. However, a herpes outbreak at 8 weeks carries no danger for the baby; it's a problem on if there is an outbreak at the time of vaginal delivery. Even then, the risk is very low. The main risk of neonatal herpes is for new herpes caught toward the end of pregnancy.
An otherwise healthy 26 years old female got herpes zoster skin lesions after starting terbinafine (for 10 days) treatment for toe onychomycosis. What could be the reason?
Blisters on red base: Painful or itchy blisters, usually in small clusters on a base of red skin, that eventually open up, leaving shallow ulcers. Typical locations are the genitals, the lips, or around the anus, but they can occur on other skin sites as well.
Not have Herpes!: I am assuming you have herpes, since you would have not asked the question. Both type 1 and 2 herpes are not site specific, ie. Oral and genital types occur in both places. Viral contact with oral or genital areas is requisite. You can shed virus and not be aware of a lesion. Medications: valtex or Famvir (famciclovir) can lessen the likelyhood of transmission, as well as prevent outbreaks! Barrier protection!
