I have medical results it says HSV herpes 1/2 IgG type 1 igg: 0.10 type 2 igg: 0.23 it doesn't say negative or positive so what do the numbers mean?
Negative: It has to be above 1·1 for positive ...Read more
There are different types of herpes infections; herpes simplex infection of mouth (gingivostomatitis) and lips (labialis) are the most common. Others include genital herpes, and herpes zoster. I had herpes blood test 1&2 IgG positive 158 IgM negative 0.08 they told me I don't have herpes are they correct? I'm so confused please help me
Yes: They are correct. Igm tells us if you have an acute or active infection. This was negative, so you do not. The igg tells us you have previously been exposed or infected. This was positive, so you have. ...Read more
Got tested for herpes 1 and 2. Herpes 1 IgG positive. Ehat does this mean? Herpes IgM indeterminate. What dies this mean. I have genital cuts.
I had a protected sexual encounter with a sex worker 3 months ago. I got tested for all stds at 14 weeks after the encounter and came back negative for everything including herpes igg 1 & 2. Are these results conclusive? Mostly concerned about herpes.
If your Herpes IgG..: If your Herpes IgG was negative at 14 weeks, then you can rest easy about that. If you're also concerned about HIV/AIDS, you might want a retest at 6 months post exposure. Protected sex protects the sex worker than well. If the sex worker is an adult & not being coerced and you're willing to use protection, I have no moral objection to this activity. However, it's inherently more risky than monogamy. ...Read more
Any lab; talk to doc: They are available through almost any lab in the US. But speak with your doctor first. The chlamydia IgG (blood) test is useless for diagnosing current infection. Although sometimes used in evaluating female infertility, for current infection you need a urine or vaginal swab test. Also, be wary about HSV (herpes) blood testing except with doctor's advice. Confusing results are common. ...Read more
Is a blood test after 14 weeks of sexual encounter enough to give conclusive results on stds especially herpes 1 and 2? Had the igg tests done for herpes. Was negative for HIV, hep a, b, c, chlamydia, gonnorhea, herpes 1 & 2 and syphilis. Thanks
Herpes' IGG result 17.40 at 5th week after exposure — can one get that high result? Or could it be false positive? Should I rest to confirm? when?
Need more info: You don't mention which Herpes virus you were exposed to and what the exposure was. The high IgG titer may be correct. Many adults have IgG antibodies to Herpes simplex virus type 1, with or without overt infection. Most, but not all, genital infections are due to Herpes simplex type 2. However, type 1 can cause genital infections as well. ...Read more
Blood test for herpes I made one which cames out IgG 1+2 serum 24.25 but it didn't distinguished if it is oral or gentel?
Can't: IgG testing means prior exposure antibodies but 1+2 tesst includes both types. Only way to distinguish would be to test 2 and 1 separately ...Read more
My Gyno did some blood wrk to chk for herpes I believe igg hsv1 & hsv2 came bk positive. I've only been w/ one man my husband how did I get hsv2?
Tricky herpes: The truth is, herpes has been affecting us humans for a long time-and so it's actually 'adapted' to us. In other words, it doesn't always cause a terrible flare up of herpes rashes. In fact, only 5% of all patients who are infected have symptoms. That means the other 95% may not have anything-just the virus is there, going along for a free ride as viruses are known to do. Talk to your GYN about it ...Read more
What is the most accurate blood test for herpes I made one which cames out IgG +ve IgM -ve but it didn't distinguished if it is oral or gentel?
Ask doctor again: Igm antibodies tell us you have not just recently contracted herpes. Igg antibodies positive mean old herpes. Almost everybody in the country has cold sores because of grandmas kissing babies/etc. Oral is 2/3rds type i herpes & 1/3 type ii these days & vice versa for genital. This is only important to know for future reference because type ii is much more severe &. Frequent. Treatment is the same. ...Read more
Both husband and i ttested positive for herpes 1 IgG and herpes 2 indeterminate, igg. What does that mean? Who is the carrier? How do u get herpes
Here is the best we can do today. If the igg is indeterminate then your physician must order the herpes western blot test. Knowing if you have hsv two if vital.
Herpes is two separate viruses. Type one, the 'oral' herpes or 'simplex' herpes is found in 75% of americans and is usually transmitted to one during childhood.
Herpes type two or hsv is thought to be the std version. Skin to skin. ...Read more
My test is positive for herpes 1 and negative for herpes 2 (all igg) but also positive IgM herpes too. Would you say I have type 1 or 2?
I blood tested negative for herpes 1&2 at 7 months post last exposure. It was an IGG done at Labcorp. Can I trust these results? Should I get retested
WHY?: Do you have symptoms? Have you been exposed? Trust the results. If you have symptoms see a DR. ...Read more

Am I herpes negative or positive? HSV 2, IgG result is 1/80 (Ref Range Negative is < 1/40), HSV I, IgG result is 1/80 (Ref Range Negative is < 1/40).
Probably yes, but...: I'm not familiar with HSV blood tests that give results as fractions or titers. With other tests (e.g. HerpeSelect®), any positive HSV1 result usually is valid, but weakly positive results (which is what I suspect is how to interpret your HSV2 result) often are false and require confirmation. In most countries, over half of adults are HSV1 positive, no big deal. But you'll need to clarify HSV2. ...Read more
IgG mature antibody: Yes, but surprising. If you have no other blood test history then we cannot really tell you that an exposure eight weeks is the one that infected you. Igg antibodies are the mature antibodies and usually take more time. ...Read more
Herpes: No; Cell culture or PCR test may give a false-negative result if the sores have begun healing or if you are recently infected. It takes several weeks for HSV antibodies to show up in the blood. PCR and cell culture tests show that you have been exposed to the virus at some point. Your doctor may choose to do both or neither based on the physical examination. ...Read more
Antibodies: A positive herpes igg means you have antibodies to the herpes virus. If you test positive for igg and negative for igm, your herpes infection is probably not recent — i.e. From the past 2 months. The test is not always accurate; if you have never had a herpes infection it could be a false positive, and you should have it repeated. ...Read more
I got <0.9 for IgG but 1.5+ for IgM for herpes test. What does that mean? Do I have herpes? Which type? What to do to be sure & what medication to take?
Likely: Igm is produced first in response to an antigen, so suggests you are recently infected (within weeks); as to which, test should reflect hsv1 ("oral") or hsv2 ("genital")--but hsv2 is the more commonly tested for type. . Your dr will prescribe antiviral best for your situation: Acyclovir (zovirax), valacyclovir (valtrex) or Famciclovir (famvir). ...Read more
I had a Herpes-6 IgG test done and normal is less than 1:80 titer but my result was exactly 1:80 titer. Significance? I was 15 when the test was done.
I tested negative for herpes IgM and negative for IgG 2 months after my last possible exposure. Is there a possibility that it could be too late to d?
3 months: If you have been tested 3 months after your potential exposure then you did not acquire the infection and the tests are reliable ...Read more
I'm gettin an IgG test done tommorow to see if I have been exposed to herpes. The only outbreak I had was 2 years ago. How long will the results take to come? Is it reliable?
Usually yes: Once in a while it takes up to 4 months for the HSV IgG test to become positive. If you had typical herpes symptoms, another test might be a good idea. But if you had no symptoms and you were just looking for reassuance after a high risk exposure, I would recommend against any further testing. ...Read more
Some viral shedding: Although the chance of transmission is highest during an active outbreak, there is still a very small chance of transmitting/spreading the infection without outbreak as some viral shedding occurs all the time. If you have frequent outbreak, consult your doc for suppressive treatment as there are quite a few options available these days. Good luck. ...Read more
