Few, but...: Biological mesh material actually goes away at it is replaced with your own connective tissue cells. There have been reports of this type of mesh eroding into the esophagus, but it is more likely to be technique related in my opinion, rather than caused by the material itself. Non-reactive: Mesh used for hernia repair does not cause an immune or allergic reaction. Your body does respond to the mesh by forming scar tissue and sending inflammatory cells to the area. Not yet: The majority of synthetic mesh for hernia repair are knitted in large sheets, then cut to size with a laser. This smooths the edges of the mesh. I am not aware of any special engineering regarding the mesh edge that uses a form of nanotechnology in the current products. ...Read more
