Husband's renogram report says relative uptake 39% and poor relative function with obstruction in right kidney. Does it mean kidney removal?
Yes or not...: Nuclear diuretic renal scan is used to roughly assess the percentage of total function contributed from each kidney so to decide if worthwhile to remove a severely damaged kidney or to decide and plan to remove a kidney with cancer which could not be managed with trans-ureteroscopic approach. What is normal for bun and creatinine post kidney removal? My grandfather's bun: 28 and creatinine: 2.05. He is 3 weeks post surgery.
No exact answer. But: This value ofcreatinine of 2 after removal of one kidney is not normal. It should be closer to 1.0 or so. However, if grandfather is in his seventies and about 160-170 pounds, his kidney function is near 50% or so. In his age group, his kidney function should be near 70% or so. He has probably an aging of his kidneys beyond his actual age. Need to ask his doc about reason. Hi blood pressure?
Yes: But I would be cautious about drinking that much on a daily basis for other reasons, especially if you are a woman. Your liver takes a hit every time you drink, and also alcohol is a high calorie source with no nutritional value. I would drink no more than one glass of wine daily if you are a woman, two if you are a man, to get the cardiovascular benefit of red wine but avoid the risks.
Husband has mid ureteric stone and moderate hydronephrosis. Is it bad? Does that mean kidney removal? Left kidney functioning normal.
No need to remove: Kidney. The stone will either pass or it will not. This largely depends on size. In general, stones less than 5 mm in size should be given an opportunity to pass. Patients can be advised that stones less than 4 mm in size generally pass within one to two weeks. Larger stones may need help from a urologist.See 3 more doctor answers
Bleeding urine (micro) after 9 months ago kidney removal (cancer). 62 yrs male. Is that normal? PET scan normal waiting for cystoscopy, very worried..
Yes: Ureteral stents frequently used in urology to relieve obstruction most often related to kidney stones and their treatment and less often for cancerous-related or other causes of ureteral blockage. Usually temporary, but occasionally long-term requiring periodic exchange. Often associated with "variable" degree of discomfort and urinary symptoms. No harm at all in having sex with stent in place.

If sepsis is a bacteria in the bloodstream can it happen when you have a blood transfusion or kidney removal or how does sepsis get in the blood?
See below: Bacterial sepsis from transfusion is a recognized complication from transfusions and tends to occur from transfusion of platelets or less commonly from red cell transfusion. It is more likely to happen from platelets as they are stored at room temperature where the bacteria can multiply. It is a serious reaction but luckily is uncommon in most centers. It certainly does not imply negligence.See 1 more doctor answer
What foods can you eat if you have both an Ovarian Cyst, hernia and two spotings on the kidney and bm area organ?
Healthy foods: I don't know of any foods that would affect an ovarian cyst. But definitely it seems that a lot of your health issues come from abdomen area. Make sure to eat a lot of fiber. I'm likely kale salads right now. Blueberries are another super food that's in season now. But fiber to keep your intestines regular is #1. Also stay well hydrated with water in these summer months.
L teste pain radiates to llq. Had CT r/o kidney stones. Would that have seen a hernia if I had one? Or would I need a different test?
Mother had surgery to repair dissected aorta and had one kidney totally fail now she has a large hernia but follow up is far away, what meds can help.
Aortic dissection: Aortic dissection = the large artery coming out of the heart has a tear in its lining. This can be a life-threatening emergency & require immediate surgical repair. Medical treatment after surgery would depend on the particular details of the patient, including the blood pressure, family history, & other issues. If access to follow-up is hard, consider a 2d opinion inbox consult to go over details
I have a 1cm hiatal hernia and it is casing me a ton of pain also my sides hurt due to kidney stones. Shld I go to the hospital?
Depends on the pain: The ED cannot do much for the hiatal hernia other than treat any heartburn pain - probably a GI cocktail to neutralize the acid. The Kidney stones are probably your bigger concern. Some people with kidney stones need to be treated as an inpatient with IV pain meds. Often kidney stones are treated consevatively for up to 72 hours with forced fluid intake and oral pain meds. Go to ED if pain severe.
