Herbs That Clean Out The Arteries
Probably not: You can overdo zinc which will lead to a copper deficiency and neurological problems. There is a reason we need micronutrients. Micro meaning small amounts. Large amounts of any nutrient can be harmful. Be very careful with supplements, they can interact with medications and with each other. Too much of a good thing can be a very bad thing. ...Read more

Possibly beneficial: Garlic, ginko, omega-3 fatty acids may act as blood thinners in varying degrees; at least they are advised against when a patient is taking prescription anti-coagulant coumadin (warfarin). Whether garlic can "clean out" the arteries is unknown; no medical studies I'm aware of. So don't rely solely on garlic. Eat healthfully, avoid bad fats, exercise regularly. ...Read more
Regular check ups: You need to have your cholesterol checked. Stay away from fast food. Maintain a healthy weight. Don' smoke! The only test that verifies clean arteries is an angiogram which looks inside the arteries. This involves putting dye into your system and would not be used to just look for clean arteries. ...Read more

Not a lost cause: If you have blockages already, tx can serve to stabilize the plaque that is present & later to try & reverse it. The latter is important to decrease long-term risk. It will req hard wk, determination, but you can do it w/ help from a proactive doctor. ...Read more

Arteries: Please continue to see your doc and do what he/she says. Beyond that, consider a process called chelation. It can be done w/oral natural meds or the older and more time-consuming IV drip method. There is lots of science to back this up but some docs may not be aware. The TACT study is a good one. TACT 2 is presently being formulated. Peace and good health. ...Read more
Aspirin: The cheap, effective antiplatelet medication for clogged arteries especially for heart's blood vessels. Plavix (clopidogrel), (clopidogrel) Aggrenox -a combination of Aspirin and persantin, are not otc and not needed if Aspirin itself has been found to be effectiv and affordable. Plavix (clopidogrel) is after stent placements in the coronary vessels and carotid vessel surgeries for a certain period, not otc. Statins-addl help, not otc. ...Read more
It won't.: Olive oil contains monounsaturated fats, which help raise your HDL cholesterol - the "healthy" cholesterol - in your blood. High HDL levels are associated with a lower incidence of heart attacks and strokes. But the idea that olive oil can somehow "clean out your arteries" is ludicrous, no matter what dr. Oz and other pseudo-experts say. ...Read more
Herbal Myths: I know of no physician who would prescribe cayenne pepper as a treatment. So, I think this question may be beyond the scope of this medical app. I know of no science or medical recommendation for this kind of treatment. I believe this is a myth and I am wary of taking this seriously. ...Read more

Intriguing research: Cranberry juice is rich in d-mannose which can treat/prevent urinary infections. New research shows the antioxidants in it can improve arterial dilation & may help arteries be less stiff. It looks like cranberry juice can prevent arteriosclerosis but it is not yet clear if it "cleans out" arteries- more research is needed- but it may reduce calcium deposits. See my comment for links to more info. ...Read more
How come there are sites that say niacin can clear arteries and if you get your HDL up it can clean and take out the plaque?
An addendum - totally happened within 6 months of taking crestor! Cannot convince dr. That gets a kickback from this drug. Coronary arteries-clean!
Angry?: Why don't you just stop the drug if you don't want to take it? No one can force you to take it if you don't want to. Btw, correlation does not prove causation. If a red car drives by your house and your forget where you put your keys, did the red car cause you to forget? ...Read more

Heart disease bad in my family, looking for ways to keep arteries clean. Heard Cayenne pepper is good for that, True? Any other ways, Tyvm
It is unlikely: That Cayenne pepper would have any meaningful affect on your coronary arteries otherwise we would routinely prescribe it to our heart patients (which we don't.) There is really none: John, there is really no meds that will "clean out" ur arteries. I suggest you go see your family doc and get a blood test for cholesterol. You can take a chol med if your chol is high, but if you have already clogged arteries from plaque buildup, you may need an ekg, carotid doppler, and check your BP to see if you qualify for meds.
