Herbal Treatment For Weaning Problems
For my hair thinning problem. I heard about anagrow herbal treatment. Of 18 sessions. Whats your suggestion on it?
Not evaluated: Such supplements are not evaluated by the FDA and therefore no recommendations can be made. See your dermatologist for evaluation of your hair thinning and if no medical causes are found(such as thyroid disorder) see a skilled beautician for evaluation and advice for your hair care. ...Read more
Is liquid melatonin safe for a two year old autistic child who has problems going to sleep? I want to use an herbal treatment, this was recommended by a pediatrician, but have read articles stating not to do so....
Melatonin: Liquid melatonin is safe for kids and a great idea for kids with sleep onset problems (kids who cannot fall asleep). Dose can be anywhere from 3-10mg. Some kids need it an hour before bed, some kids need it up to three hours before bed. There are also teas with melatonin if your child doesn't like the liquid. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Are there any new treatments for OCd, apart from exposure and delay therapy? also are there any herbal supplement for this problem
NO herbals: OCD is defined as a obsessive condition with compulsive tendencies. There are some meds specifically therapy that are in the SSRI family. I would not take any herbals as these are not studied and ST Johns wort is not appropriate for this. See your doctor and get the best advice. Most appropriate would be to see a psychiatrist. ...Read more
Can I wean off of Effexor (venlafaxine) XR 35mg, and take Zoloft 25mg at the same time, so there is no lapse in treatment? And how long until Zoloft starts working?
Yes, if doc agrees: always discuss your plan of care with ur doc. it's most common 4 docs 2 recommend that patients reduce the dose of one med while they transition on to a new one, for the reason u mentioned -- no lapse. docs call this a "cross taper". Unclear how long it will take for zoloft (sertraline) to work. some pts feel btr in just a few days, while others may need up to 8 wks on the right dose. ring ur doc to discuss :) ...Read more

Hard to say: It really depends onthe type of allergy you are asking about. If it is runny stuffy nose, itchy eyes etc..It is probably due to something i the air(dust, pollen, pets). Avoidance is the cure..But usually hard to do...I am unaware of any effective herbal treatments..In fact, some people who are allergic to grass or weed pollen get sicker when taking herbal remedies..Be careful. ...Read more
None proven: Unfortunately, there are no peer-reviewed trials supporting use of any herbs or supplements to increase libido or sex drive in either women or men. Pharmaceutical companies are looking at various forms of testosterone for women but are currently stymied by side effects (which can be mitigated by adjusting doses). Compounding pharmacies can formulate something just for you (under md/do supervision). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not the best: St. John's wort is the only studied herbal treatment for mild depression. No other herbal or supplemental medication has shown efficacy. Of course, st. John's wort has its own issues in that it lowers the levels of certain medications and dosingnp is three times a day. Antidepressants and therapy have greater efficacy. ...Read more
