Episodes of sudden temporary (about 30 mn) loss of hability to speak . At least one episode followed by headache. What could b the cause ?

Need medical eval: Please see your doctor as soon as possible. What you're describing could be symptoms of a transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke) which so far has returned to normal function when you've had it. Or possibly a migraine variant, type of seizure, or other problem. Your doctor will want to do a neurological exam and probably some other studies to get to the bottom of this problem. Is medical marijuana a good option to help relieve side effects of lung cancer drug treatment such as nausea, appetite loss, and weakness?

I say 'yes': If they can obtain it legally, i would urge them to try it. For as long as I have been in medicine, I have been told about how effective many people have found this. I am glad you are there for your friend with cancer. Obey the law. ...Read more

In your experience, what are the "best" treatments for intractable migrane? Tried a lot of diff meds, antidepresants, beta/ca blockers, antiseizure etc

Complex, but can fix: To prevent migraines, the most effective prescription meds include Depakote and topirimate, and the others above likely will not work well. But otc preps have actually worked very well indeed, so consider riboflavin, butterbur, feverfew, co-q10, and/or magnesium. Success rates are high with the otc preps. Lastly, to break up headache pattern use steroids, if all else fails. ...Read more

One : One of the ways to get correct information from a computer is to have the correct ( input) information in the computer. In medicine is the same , you need precise data to make the adecuate diagnosis . I don t mean to under estimate you impression of how you hands look or how they feel and i don t mean to under estimate your diagnosis of aquiles tendinitis or others, but in order to make the right diagnosis in rheumatology you need to have an appropiate history and physical exam, these two features give you a very very good hint of the diagnosis , that could then be confiorm by blood test or x rays etc.... Rheumatoid arthrtis is not always rheumatoid factor positive and there are 140 varieties of rheumatic diseases . I believe you need a rheumatologist to evaluate you and try to define what your ailments are to get the propper diagnosis and the propper therapy. ...Read more
