Update from my last question, I meant to say that I have inflammation in the ear canal and it's covered by some yellowish crusty stuff, is this a case of otitis media?, its been going on for 3 days, is it serious?
Otitis Externa: Inflammation of the canal is more likely otitis externa and it can have a discharge. Bacterial ear infxn needs to be treated with abx which will require a trip to a doctor. Externa can be serious in patients with diabetes or immunosuppression. Drainage for 3 days should be treated seriously. Yes: With serous otitis, clear fluid in the middle ear space has not drained properly and pressure causes the eardrum to bulge. After drainage, fluid left can become infected.
