The chest wall deformity is due to an abnormal growth pattern of the ribs and sternum. Sorry but no: Your sternum is where your chest muscles (pectorals) attach but there's no muscle there per se to increase w/exercise. If the appearance really bothers you, talk to a thoracic surgeon but unless it's causing you medical problems, it's unlikely s/he will recommend any surgery, and even less likely that insurance will cover this cosmetic procedure.Try to focus on all your other accomplishments! ...Read more

I'm a lpn .. Was injured by pt in aug. 11. Punch to sternum resulted in costochondral sep. Of 2nd rib. Misdiagnosed..Now chronic. What treatment now

Difficult: Non-union of costochondral separation is a difficult problem. Has enough time passed (weeks) to allow spontaneous union? Was rib belt stabilization attempted? If problem has become chronic (over three months) and remains symptomatic, then prolotherapy can be investigated.
