When there's a cut, blood leaves from the blood vessel, but there are also white blood cells and platelets in the blood vessel. why don't they escape too?

They do: All components of blood leak out when there is injury to the blood vessels. Just that red cells are far more numerous than other cells. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more

Does plavix (clopidogrel) thin out plugs in blood vessels besides thinning one's blood to prevent clotting? Please, need some answers?

No: Plavix (clopidogrel) inhibits platelet aggregation. Platelets are cells in the blood that initiate the clotting process. Plavix (clopidogrel) doesn't thin anything: not plugs or blood or anything else. ...Read more

Fish oil is a blood thinner that doesn't help broken eye vessels. Is carrot juice also a blood thinner that doesn't help broken eye vessels to heal?

Neither do: Fish oil does prolong bleeding time but not significantly, unless used in high doses usually combined with other anticoagulants like aspirin. Carrot juice, a good source of beta carotene, insignificantly affects bleeding time. Now, your broken eye vessels would not be expected to heal faster with the above, but may slightly increase bruising occurrence, particularly with subconjunctival hemorrhage ...Read more

Acetominophen/narcot: If you are worried about bleeding, you should avoid Aspirin and all of the 'nsaids' - ie, aleve, (naproxen) motrin, etc. About the only otc pain reliever than will not increase bleeding risk is acetaminophen. Can multiple antioxidants and aspirin thin my blood too much?

Can multiple antioxidants and aspirin thin my blood too much?

Incorrect Concepts: Blood viscosity is primarily due to glycoprotein molecules protruding from the membranes of red blood cells producing resistance of rbcs to slide past one another; reduced in anemia (rbcs farther apart). Aspirin & antioxidants have little to no effect on this but can inhibit platelets &/or the clotting or clot destruction protein cascades so as to slow speed of blood clotting. What is "too much"? ...Read more

Why are some clots difficult for the body to break down? Blood thinners are used to thin blood, which aids in the natural anticoagulation, correct?

Why are some clots difficult for the body to break down? Blood thinners are used to thin blood, which aids in the natural anticoagulation, correct?

An example may help: Heart-attacks are frequently caused by the rupture of a plaque in an artery in the heart. A clot forms over the injury but this also occludes the vessel that supplies part of the heart. The clotting system is responding properly to vessel damage and doesn't know that the clot is iinjurying the heart. Blood thinners can break up clots like this allowing blood to flow back to the heart. ...Read more
