Dr. needs to check: Shortness of breath is not normal, unless it is the mild, temporary shortness of breath with sports activities (but even then, one must be sure he is not having more shortness of breath than his sports peers have). Two common things..: It is possible that either you are suffering of acid reflux or post nasal drip. Both conditions can cause reactive airways which is manifested with wheezing you are describing when you lay down. It is recommended to try to elevate your head at least 30 degrees when in bed. Your question is not: Clear to me . From what i understand , you have problem of breathing particularly in lying position called orthopnea . The relation between breathing problem and level of co2 is interrelated .
