The second toes: May be longer than your first toes and your shoes may be too small. With regards to the bunions if they hurt you, you can have them surgically fixed. Your only other option is to find shoes that accomodate them.....which is difficult to do. Your young, I'd fix them. ...Read more

My little toe is curling inward. It rubs against the adjacent toe. My shoes are roomy. Do any over-the-counter toe straighteners work?
Can you have a bunion on the top of big toe. Left big toe is turning inward & i can't bend it down as far as right toe.
Yes: A bump on the top of the big toe joint develops with jamming of that joint and formation of spurring. This can be caused by trauma or elevation of the metatarsal bone. Early treatment consists of steroid injections and custom inserts to improve joint function. As it advances, surgery may be needed to restore joint function, insert a joint implant or even fuse the joint to stop painful motion. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Son has one big toe nail that has fallen off & the other big toe nail is lifting. No trauma, fungus ruled out , nail flat/spoon, ideas of cause?
I will provide an : Idea, it is a little difficult without seeing the actual foot. I do believe that fungus and trauma are the most common causes. Trauma does not have to mean a heavy object fell on the toe. Repetitive micro trauma like a toe hitting the end of a shoe when running etc could be a cause, and nails can be negative for fungus due to false negatives. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What is the question: you can have something called a hallux interphalangeus where the big toe is curved towards the second without having a bunion.....a bunion is simply a bump of bone and this is usually on the medial aspect of the first metatarsal head but can be on the top of it. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Pain at base of big toe.Unable to put pressure there or ball of foot w/out5/10 pain.Cant bend or extend toeWalking on side foot to compensate. Ideas?
Yikes.: It seems odd that this type of pain and restricted motion exists without some degree of swelling and/ or inflammation. At least it was not noted in your description. Clearly, something is going on. Either physical(trauma) of chemical(gout). Regardless, your condition is best treated by a direct examination that would include x-ray and possibly some blood work. ...Read more
Are bone spurs at the base of big toe (bottom) related to turf toe? Feel like spur needs soft cushion, but turf toe calls for hard extension. Confused
Turf toe is more of : A sprain of the ligaments around that joint. Spurring around the joint is something that develops gradually over time and reduce the available range of motion of the joint. At some point in time, spurs need to be removed surgically before more damage is done to the interior of the joint. Turf toe is an acute injury that takes time and protection to heal. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Broke foot per ER doc. Big toe points toward others slightly. Getting a cam walker but should I buddy tape big toe to next toe. In a lot of pain still.
Depends: Hi-- so it depends on what is broken. It appears as if you have a slight bunion deformity...The "big toe points toward others"--nothing to worry about as long as it is not the big toe that is broken and/or big toe is not painful. We do not buddy tape big toes and splinting is not really appropriate for bunions. Let me know what bone is broken and we can go further with options. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
