Are there drug/herb interactions taking 30mg escitalopram, 300 mg modafinil and 400mg rhodiola rosea?
Rhodeola Rosea: I would not recommend the combination, since it has MAO (mono amine oxidase) inhibiting properties, which contraindicates combining it with serotonergic agents such as lexapro, (escitalopram) due to potential for serotonin syndrome. Also, no enough scientific evidence to suggest its use to supplement mood elevation. ...Read more
Tramadol: is a rather unique analgesic drug that is indicated for moderate to moderately severe pain. Although it binds to mu receptors, tramadol is not technically classified as an opioid analgesic. Instead, it is classified as a centrally acting synthetic analgesic compound and therefore is not a scheduled narcotic drug. Consult with your PCP for more information and drug interaction. ...Read more

Talk to your doctor: You should tell your doctor about all the medications/drugs/supplements you take. For now quit taking stuff that your doctor did not prescribe. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more
I take 1 mg clonazepam and 1 mg Ativan (lorazepam) in the morning for anxiety.Today I wantedTo try adding rhodiola rosea, are there any interactions with the herb?
Possibly: Clonazepam (Klonopin) and lorazepam (Ativan) are benzodiazepines, the former broken down by liver enzyme CYP3A4. Some data suggests that Rhodeola rosea impairs the function of such liver enzymes, so for a given dose of clonazepam a person might end up getting a higher blood level as if she had taken a higher dose. Rhodeola could be helpful so best to discuss with the prescribing provider. ...Read more

Is there a dangerous interaction between cyclobenzaprine and the herbal supplement rhodiola? I've read that this herb acts as an MAOI.
Any interaction between using the herbs valerian roots and borago and taking antidepressants venlafaxine 37.5 (modified release) and risperidone?
Don't mix meds: Even though i specialize in natural medicine I do not have patients mix natural and pharmaceutical meds unless it is clear that there is no negative interaction.
