Discuss with surgeon: Might I recommend Sitz baths. When I was in practice I charged $10.00 for the hemorroidectomy and $1000.00 / day to rent the Sitz bath :)
Also Fentynl lolly pops and Duragesic patches are very effective.

Paradoxically, ssri's can also sometimes help decrease hot flashes. Older tricyclic antidepressants can cause constipation and lead to hemorrhoids, but the newer ssri's are less likely to do this.
