Seeing your PCP wou-: Ld be advisable, as she/he starts the process of evaluation/investigations/treatments. Pain meds + rest + heating pad would all help. The pinched nerve causing the sciatica by the disc will settle down and symptoms subside, or if not, then pt/exercises, steroid epidural shots might be helpful. L5-S1 microdiscectomy Fri for left leg sciatic pain. Calf/foot pain relief w/some thigh/behind knee pain. Pain less AM but sharp pain down left leg into foot w/pain level of 9.5 & hurts sitting/lying.
Microdiskectomy: Give it some time; sometimes simply moving the roots around can upset the lumbar plexus and give you intermittent (even quite severe) pain, although it resolves within a week or two. Getting to the disk requires mobilization of the roots and inflammatory changes from that- or the disk herniation- itself can give this pain. See below: This actually sounds like sciatica or pain from an irritated nerve root in your lumbar spine. Most plausible cause: of your symptoms seems to be irritation of a nerve in your Lumbar spine, either from a disc herniation, arthritis, disc-facet joint complex, or some other space occupying lesion. Multifactorial pain: Without exam/MRI difficult to label your pains. Low back, hip, leg pain and numbness clearly CAN be related to indicate disc problems in the low back with resultant discogenic and radicular pain. Ibuprofen/naproxen/acetaminophen can help some pain. For diagnosis/treatment, you need a lumbar spine MRI and formal evaluation to see if all problems tie together. Treatment possible. Have it checked: Lowe leg tenderness and swelling, particularly when these symptoms are in one leg only, suggests phlebitis or even venous thrombosis. It would be wise to have this checked. In the meantime wrapping the leg in an ace bandage (4 inch) decreased activity and elevate the leg would help. Also one aspirin 3 times a day. Good luck. ...Read more

Spine Center: Ron..would strongly suggest that you be evaluated and treated CONSERVATIVELY by a Spine Center if there is one within any reasonable distance form where you live.
