For 58+ F, Hb 10.8, RBC 3.66, PCV 34, MCV 94, MCHC 31, WBC 5.4, Pt 1.8, Iron 57, TIBC 255, TSI 22, RC 1.2, Ferritin 83 indicate which type of anemia ?
Mild anemia: Assuming you've had no recent bleeding episodes, these findings could be seen in mild/early anemia of chronic disease. Hgb and Hct are only boarder line low, and iron panel appears within the reference range. Even something as simple as a particularly heavy period could cause mild anemia of this type, though. If you have a chronic medical illness, it could cause this type of anemia. ...Read more

?Not anemic: Your rbc is low, but hct is probably at the bottom of normal. The other lab values are all normal. This discrepancy between rbc and hct usually means either your red cells are unusually big, or something is interfering with the counting. This can happen with a cold agglutinin (red cells clump in the cold), excessive alcohol, liver problems, or low thyroid. Given other symptoms, check thyroid. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What's the question?: It looks like you may have thalassemia or iron deficiency or both. Low MCV with just slightly low hemoglobin suggests thalassemia. Rbc (red blood cell) count would be helpful to distinguish the 2. Other testing could include a ferritin level to measure your body's iron content, and possibly a hemoglobin electropheresis. Is there a family history of thalassemia? ...Read more

Nothing by itself: There is probably a very mild anemia, the white count is minimally up, and as far as I am concerned the platelets are still in the healthy range. As a lab specialist, I am always reminding people that labs mean nothing apart from the history and physical exam. I can raise my white count to this level taking a cold shower. If you feel well and there are no abnormal cells reported, be thankful. ...Read more

Probably reactive: You are anemic and the numbers are suspicious for iron deficiency. If you are a healthy 34 year-old who menstruates regularly, you could easily be low in iron. The plaelet count is very high, but is likely reacting to the low iron and should come down if it is replaced. The elevated white cells (WBC) is not as easy to understand. For 57+ F with Hb 10.6, RBC 3.6, Pt 1.2L & ESR 51 while normal MCV & MCHC, does Ferritin 35 [4 - 204] indicate iron deficiency or haemolytic anemia ?
In ICU Jan 2016 - toxic granulation, NRBC .3, atyp lymphs 6%. No diagnosis. May 2017 admitted w/ naus/vom. WBC 3.4, RBC 3.6, hgb 8. Any link?
Not relevant: The link if any with your 2016 admission may not be relevant. You are anemic and that needs to be investigated, along with your other symptoms. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor. Wish you good health! ...Read more

My 2 yr old son had bun, bun/creatinine ratio and hemoglobin done. His hemoglobin was 10.8, bun 17, and creatinine 40. What does this mean?Concerning?
Ok, with explanation: I suspect the creatinine was 0.40, not 40. Unless the units are different. Either way, the BUN and creatinine are fine in this case, and what you'd expect. The ratio, bun/cr is going to be huge since the creatinine is expected to be low. Don't worry about that. The hemoglobin is a little low, but not hugely low. Talk with your doc about iron rich foods and a recheck in a few months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Iron def anemia: You do have iron deficiency anemia and you should get some iron replacement. However the most important thing is to know why you have iron deficiency. How old are you? Different reasons why iron could be low- either from blood loss and GI would the most common source of bleeding, iron malabsorption on the stomach, or decrease iron intake from your food. Go to see your md for further eval & GI w/u. ...Read more
Kindly advised for my friend male 34 hemoglobin 4.1 and creatinine 34.2 levels what happen to his kidney if this is the situation. thanks.
Can be fatal: A Hgb of 4.1 suggests near cardiac collapse. If no immediate transfusion. Patient can go into irreversible cardiac failure. Having an elevated creatinine in the 30 range means kidney failure,.Creatinine is a waste product that is eliminated in urine. .With a creatinine >10 dialysis is usually suggested. Patient may be having a terminal event unless quickly transfused and hydrated. ...Read more
Is this new?: I'm not sure in what context you had these labs done but if the numbers I am reading are correct this is related to renal failure and severe anemia. It all depends if this just happened( acute) or has been going on for a while. It also depends on what else is happening and other symptoms and abnormalities found. This requires immediate evaluation if new(go to ED) or close follow up if for a long time ...Read more
What kind if food that is need to eat if you have 8.5 creatinine and 8.5 hemoglobin what best food to reduce creatinine levels.
No such thing : Creatinine is not a toxin, it's a crude surrogate marker used to calculate how much blood is cleaned per unit time and body surface. I'm assuming you are or staked asking for a dialysis patient. For diet, you mainly need to worry about potassium on phosphorus content as well as sodium. Those are far important. But there is no food to lower creatinine. ...Read more

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that.
