Months of left side/flank pain & 2 neg cts. Then sudden blood in urine/clots, & bladder spasms. diangosis pyelonephritis. Can this explain pain for months?
Partially: Very possible that a low grade infection caused the initial symptoms, then became full blown pyelonephritis , which requires initial IV antibiotics and long term treatment (at lest 3-4 weeks). Then need urologic evaluation to look for anatomic abnormalities for stones, masses, etc. That may be contributing. ...Read more

My wife is 51 and very healthy non smoker . She has had extreme fatigue , blood in urine, localized left flank pain. Ct scan was neg for kidney stones?
Infection or tumor: The most likely reason is infection of the kidney...Your doctor will check the urine and prescribe antibiotics. A less likely reason is a tumor in the kidney or nearby. This may need a urologists help. It could still be a kidney stone that was not seen on the ct, which also needs a urologists help. ...Read more

Hopefully a urine culture was sent, which will confirm the diagnosis. Blood in the urinary tract should be evaluated, however, and i recommend seeing a urologist who can perform a full evaluation with history, physical exam, and urine testing. ...Read more

But infection is also a reason, stones in the urinary system are a reason (they may not be seen on ultrasound), and there are other reasons. So rather than worry yourself sick, eat a few of those great walnuts grown around there, and wait and see what is going on. ...Read more

Adolescent. Lower right chronic flank pain for 3 years. Hematuria daily. History of kidney stones. Clean scans minus an ovarian cyst.
Get checked,,,: There could be several reasons for this. It could be from many bouts of infection or it could be from stones or it can be a defect in the ureter-bladder valve causing chronic reflux. It's best to go to your doctor and get more tests like an intravenous pyelogram to scan the urinary tract and a urinalysis to check the urine due to the blood and stones. Best of luck. ...Read more
