Hematoma On Hip
I have a huge hematoma on my hip from a fall 18 days ago. Filled with fluid and driving me crazy. How long will it take to resolve? Can it be drained?
Can take quite awhil: I have seen some of these hematomas which can take a month or two to resolve especially in individuals who are on blood thinners, the bruiising and hematomas can be quite large. I only drain it if it is going on a long time and if I think the person is quite symptomatic regarding the swelling and pain. I would also drain it if there was a concern regarding infecton.See 1 more doctor answer
After surgery for my hematoma on my left hip the nurse said the dr just kept pulling "stuff" out? What was it? And why do both of my legs hurt?
Ask the surgeon...: One can ask the surgeon or get a copy of the surgeon's report, to see what stuff came out. It may have been hematoma blood mixed with other stuff, if there was other stuff in the hematoma. One can visit the doctor again if she has lots of concerns or questions, or to have the leg pains evaluated. If the leg pains are unrelated, a primary care doctor can check into the legs.
Hello. I had a major groin tear and hip flexor tear. I had a large hematoma as a result. I had surgery to repair this problem. When is intercourse ok?
Surgeons call: When your surgeon determines that you have had enough healing. First consider that this not usually treated surgically which means your tear was severe so don't take any chances because you can ruin the repair. CHECK WITH YOUR SURGEON

Trauma: To a hematoma can cause rebleeding in the area and increase a hematoma. However, any changes in a hematoma one week after its appearance should be examined by a physician. Blood work should be done to be sure your blood is clotting appropriately. Also, a developing infection or septic hematoma can cause delayed worsening of a previously stable hematoma. See your doctor.
I crashed my bike the other week, landed on my handle bars, hitting my pelvis. Now there's a lrg hematoma below my waist line. Wat should I do? Not ins
See a doctor: A hematoma is collection of blood in your tissue and can commonly occur after a traumatic event. Usually a hematoma resovles on its own. However if you are having continued abdominal pain and blood in your stool it is better to see a doctor right now as this can be indicative of internal bleeding.
Bruise: If you have significant pain and difficulty of walking/standing, you might need to be evaluated for hip fracture. If no fracture is found, you can take NSAIDs for pain and inflammation. Icing should help with swelling and stop bruising from getting worse. You should follow up with your doctor for any persistent pain, swelling, shortness of breath or any other new symptoms.
Possibly: If there is an associated hernia in that area, yes. But it should be checked by your doctor too.
In between my hip and ribcage, it hurts as if I was kicked. There is no bruise but it hurts. What could be wrong?
Several things: Problems like these can only be correctly handled by your doctor in person. He/she needs to listen to you, perform an examination and possibly run labs or other tests. That's the only way he/she can find out what's going on and what to do about it.
Varies: Minor and superficial bruises are much better within a few weeks. More severe and deeper bruises can take several months to completely recover.See 1 more doctor answer
Thanks for asking!: I am not sure but with a baby that can't tell you what is happening, get it checked. This is not something to wait and watch if you have no idea.
I fell on my hip/buttock region in March and It still hurts. Do I still have a bruise/injury? 3 months later? What should I do?
C an ortho: Many times this type of fall bruises the greater trochanter, and U can develop trochanteric bursitis, which hurts when U walk, sleep on the injured side, & also up stairs. If U R thin, U can palpate over the trochanter & C if it is the cause. I will try 2 attach a trochanteric region if able. Otherwise google it. I have a pain in my right hip and it stays when I sit and is really uncomfortable but I did not injure myself even though there appears to be a bruise?
Orthopedic physician: Pain in the hip in your age bracket can occur for many reasons. Certain stresses around the hip can lead to avulsed tendons at muscle insertions. Sometimes the joint space can form fluid, so called synovitis secondary to trauma, inflammation, etc. Sometimes changes in the lower spine and pelvis can refer pain to hip. If symptoms persist an orthepedic physician and imaging will usually help.
Lump under skin on hip and light bruise on top of skin. Have not had any injuries and it seems out of the blue?
Likely trauma: This could have occured without you noticing it, especially on hip if you are busy and bump into something. It also could be spontaneous which is more concerning. Have your local doctor check this out when you have time.
Can a bruise on your hip affect how you walk? I smashed it pretty hard againsts a metal bar and I think it is just bruised?
I have a pain above my right hip, in a place where it feels like a muscle above my hip. And it hurts when I touchit or tense, Feels like a bruise pain?
Exercise or sport?: This sounds like a pulled muscle, tendon, or ligament. Occasionally a tiny piece of bone can be displaced with certain activities with very strong hip and leg muscles. You should first apply warm compresses or heating pad and take Tylenol (acetaminophen) or very low dose NSAID; you can apply Arnica gel or cream and of course avoid any motion or activity that increases pain. See a doc if not better in 3 days.See 1 more doctor answer
