I bruised my shin in a fall. A hematoma formed. Itis about 3/4 " high by 1 1/2 ". It has hard bump on top. How can I get rid of it? Thank you.
Time: Hematomas can be quite painful. They are nothing more than a collection of blood. I recommend you get a neoprene compressive sleeve to wear. Initially, ice may relieve symptoms. After a few days, you might consider applying some warm heat intermittently. This can sometimes help the body break down and reabsorb the hematoma. ...Read more
When to get a hematoma blood clot drained? I took a hard fall over 3 weeks ago. Bruise is gone, but large lump is getting painful again. Is it a clot?
Maybe, maybe not: Some of the bruises over bony prominences (shin, hip, etc) form a calcified (bony) mass that can take months to gradually resolve. Clots tend to break down and be absorbed into the vessels servicing those tissues. Your pcp can examine and see what this is doing. Most recommend avoiding clot drainage when possible as the maneuver can introduce infection into deep tissues. ...Read more
Age:40, menorhea, when I hit something I get a bruise, it takes long time (3-4wks) to go away? I think I get a bruise even I don't hit that hard. Any tests?
Blood thinners: If you are on certain medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other nsaids, these may cause you to bruise more easily. There are blood tests that you can take which help diagnose bleeding problems (ie: pt, ptt). Vitamin k deficiency also causes easy bruising which can be tested for. ...Read more

I got an injection near my anus. Its been one month. The hard site of injection is still there. Why it take so long to dissolve. No pain. Hematoma I doubt.
Hematoma: I would feel that this is an organized blood clot from bleeding at the injection site. Often fibrosis sets in and the firm nodule won't dissolve even after warm applications. If these clots are painful or tender, they would have to be removed by minor surgery. A general surgeon or proctologist can evaluate it and advise you. ...Read more
If injured, yes: Subungual hematoma is a blood clot under a nail, usually from a direct blow (hitting your fingertip with a hammer, stubbing your toe). If you seek medical attention within the first 24 hours, they can be drained with a hot probe thru the nail - generally almost painlessly, and by relieving the pressure it really helps the pain! Very small hematomas or older ones are not worth draining. ...Read more

How long do scalp hematomas last & what can I do if it's getting harder? It's been about a week since I felt it bubble up and form in my head Source
Several weeks: Hematomas start soft and harden as the blood inside coagulates. If it gets larger or more painful, seek medical attention. ...Read more
