How long ago?: If recent, healing and improvement time is essential. Most children and adults recover from epidural hematomas well. You should expect limitations on activity, be careful what the child does, close monitoring, and give it time to heal. ...Read more

Fracture (Definition)

A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more

Can a person have a subdural hematoma or skull fracture for a month with only symptoms being side headache and back head pain? Got black eye month ago

Yes: Yes, in part because the mental status of the person, and therefore their ability to report pain, may be altered as well. There is also a condition known as a delayed subdural hematoma which can occur after the original injury. Don't hesitate to be seen and thoroughly evaluated. ...Read more

A friend suffered a subdural hematoma and a skull fracture three weeks ago. In terms of alcohol, marijuana, how long would it take until trying these?

Is a moderately large pelvic hematoma displacing the bladder as a result of pelvic fractures considered internal bleeding. Allot or little blood?

It seems: To me it can be quite a lot of blood for being able to displace the bladder. The good news is that it gets reabsorbed and things return normal. If you did receive a blood transfusion(s) the bleeding was significant... If no transfusion you will regenerate the lost blood ...Read more

Took a hit from a knee to the left rib cage a week agoEveryday hurts worst, no hematoma I CAN breathe right but hurts when I press on area. Fracture?

Fracture is possible: A knee to the rib cage can indeed result in a fracture. The only way to be certain would be a chest x-ray, but it is not necessarily indicated since it would not change management at this stage. Warm compresses anti-inflammatory meds and eliminating any activities that can worsen it should be avoided. Expect it to resolve in several weeks even if there is a fracture present. ...Read more
