1 yr old with epidural hematoma. Brain shifted to right side. Craniotomy preformed removing large hematoma. Linear fracture. What can we expect now?
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
Can a person have a subdural hematoma or skull fracture for a month with only symptoms being side headache and back head pain? Got black eye month ago
A friend suffered a subdural hematoma and a skull fracture three weeks ago. In terms of alcohol, marijuana, how long would it take until trying these?
How long does it take for a moderately lg pelvic hematoma to go away by itself. Result of pelvic fractures.
Weeks: Hematomas can take weeks and even months to completely resolve, especially if they are sizable. I suspect the pain that you have (from the fractures and the hematoma) will likely resolve within about 6 - 8 weeks, probably long before the hematoma actually resolves. ...Read more

It seems: To me it can be quite a lot of blood for being able to displace the bladder. The good news is that it gets reabsorbed and things return normal. If you did receive a blood transfusion(s) the bleeding was significant... If no transfusion you will regenerate the lost blood ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Took a hit from a knee to the left rib cage a week agoEveryday hurts worst, no hematoma I CAN breathe right but hurts when I press on area. Fracture?
Fracture is possible: A knee to the rib cage can indeed result in a fracture. The only way to be certain would be a chest x-ray, but it is not necessarily indicated since it would not change management at this stage. Warm compresses anti-inflammatory meds and eliminating any activities that can worsen it should be avoided. Expect it to resolve in several weeks even if there is a fracture present. ...Read more

A scalp hematoma is a condition in which there has been bleeding between the scalp and the skull, and the blood is trapped under the scalp, forming a blood-filled bulge. Scalp hematomas usually resolve without treatment. They are more common in babies who needed vacuum-assisted deliveries, because vacuum on a baby's scalp can cause ...Read more
Is it broken or fractured is a question I am often asked. The answer is basically that a broken or fractured bone is the same thing. A fracture means a break in the cortex or the strong layer of outer bone cells. In an adult the average time for that to heal varies greatly but is often considered to ...Read more
