I had a pap smear 3 days ago the first day I had spotting but the next 2 I have been having heavy bleeding. I have POS should I be concerned?

Not normal: Pap smear not associated with vaginal bleeding. If exam of cervix showed irritation there is always possibility of in-situ lesion of cervix but bx needed for dx. Not uncommon: When the pap smear was done the MD probably noted cervical redness and inflammation with blood vessels visible on the cervical surface. If it is a severe disorder, you should talk with your hematologist about how to do this safely. It happens: When a pap smear is done the top layer of cells are sort of scraped off. For some this can cause some bleeding. Hopefully you were tested for infection at the same time as your pap. Your doc should: Have told u that sometimes it can bleed as long as he didn't see a lesion or tumor then the pap hopefully will be normal, it could come back abnormal, and sometimes bleeding can be from an undiagnosed std like chl or gc so the dco can run those 2 tests with the pap to make sure they are neg. ...Read more
