After a cervical biopsy over a week ago I had sex when the bleeding stopped. It started again and has continued for 6 days. Help cramps, abdominal fever and consistant bleeding. Is this normal?

Vaginal: Vaginal bleeding after sex is often caused by the friction of the penis rubbing against the cervix, so the bleeding is not surprising following your biopsy. However, the cramping and fever are much more concerning symptoms - especially lasting for almost a week. I'm concerned that you could have an infection. You should call your ob/gyne (or the doctor who performed the biopsy) right away. They may want to examine you to determine the cause of your symptoms so that you can have the right treatment. Good luck! ...Read more

Biopsy (Definition)

Biopsy is tissue removed by needle or cutting to remove part of a body part. It is usually a small amount of material that is processed by a pathologist. Most of the time it is stained and looked at through a microscope to arrive at a diagnosis. Special processes are done for some tissues or problems. I had sex 4 days after a cervical biopsy and now am bleeding again, what to do if there's an infection?

See your MD: We usually ask patents to abstain from sex after a biopsy as the biopsy site is "raw' and can easily re-bleed if disturbed. Your md can sometimes stop the bleeding by placing a temporary "patch" using silver nitrate or monsel's solution- so give him/her a call. ...Read more

I had a colpo with one cervical biopsy doc told me to wait 3 days for sex. I did now im bleeding again after sex should I be worried? I Did Usecondom

No: During colposcopic cervical biopsy a small piece (about size of a Nerds candy) of the surface of the cervix is removed and usually medication is applied to prevent bleeding. So imagine if someone were to take scissor to cut off a small piece of your nose, then put pressure and medication to stop the bleeding. Then 3 days later someone punches your nose - bleeding is somewhat expected, right? ...Read more

I had a simple cervical biopsy of a prolapsed into my vaginal canal mass thought to be a large fibroid! Still bleeding with cramps is this normal?

Prolapsed fibroid: If you have a prolapsed fibroid then it will need to be surgically removed. Since your doctor did a biopsy my suspicion is that they wanted to confirm the diagnosis before proceeding with surgical management. The irregular bleeding and cramping will likely not resolve until the prolapsed fibroid is removed ...Read more

Colposcopy today with cervical biopsy have significant pain, having trouble walking and sitting cant take nsaids due to allergy minimal bleeding?

Colposcopy today with cervical biopsy have significant pain, having trouble walking and sitting cant take nsaids due to allergy minimal bleeding?

No fun: The pain from a cervical biopsy can be fairly significant after the procedure. I would take tylenol (acetaminophen) if you have no allergy - try 500 mg every 4 hours tonight. If that has no effect on the pain then you need to go to the ER for pain management. I would recommend calling your GYN in the morning to see what his/her recommendations are. ...Read more
