It might be,,,: It appears that Prilosec can have as an adverse effect, severe abdominal pain. This is due to increased intestinal gas. There can also be nausea and vomiting. Headaches are also a side effect. It might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about how much you should take since your symptoms lessened when you ran out and this would help to avoid serious side effects. Good luck. ...Read more

Have Gerd on Prilosec high bp under control. Heart cath. No issues have had chest pain mainly rt side near sternum radiating to shoulder heartburn stil?

Chest pain: Once a cardiac source of pain has been ruled out by a cardiologist, then one could pursue further whether uncontrolled Gerd could be the cause. You may need an adjustment of your medication and/or further evaluation to determine if Gerd could still be the cause. See your primary doctor or your gastroenterologist. Good luck. ...Read more

I have daily chest pain that last all day long. If I don't eat, if I do eat. It doesn't matter. Is this nornal for gerd?

Possible: Does not sound like cardiac pain. Not unusual for gerd symptoms to act like this. An easy test is to simply take an over the counter medication for gerd like prilosec. If symptoms improve that may be it. I would still recommend you also see a physician to further evaluate your symptoms to make sure a more serious problem is not causing your problems. ...Read more

I m 27 suffering from gerd, les lax I got chest pain whole the time, and even more when I lay down so what can I do to cure this permanently pls help?

See gastro: I assume that you have already seen a gastroenterologist since you know that you have LES laxity. I am not sure that there is a cure for this short of surgery but your GI doctor could better advise you. To treat GERD we advise people to take PPI meds, avoid large meals, maintain normal weight and not eat any foods that trigger the symptoms. Raising the head of the bed about 3 inches can help. ...Read more

Can GERD cause desaturation during daytime, while seated? My 6yo trachee complained of pain in chest during lunch, took sats & 84, hr 125. O2 resolved

Possibly: Acid reflux itself cannot cause problems in the lungs; however, it is possible for someone to aspirate stomach contents, particularly if they have a tracheotomy. If stomach acid is aspirated, it can certainly irritate the lung tissue causing a drop in oxygen sats if the patient begins to breath irregularly. ...Read more
