I'm geting severe GERD since1month postpartum. Could it be hormonal? Now 3 months postpartum No period yet
Not hormonal: GERD is due to reflux of stomach acid and contents into the esophagus causing heartburn. It can be due to a lax esophageal sphincter or a hiatus hernia. Pregnancy often aggravates this as the stomach gets larger and increases pressure, or by obesity, or lying flat or tight belts such as seat belts, etc. It is best treated with a proton pump blocker such as Prilosec no large meals or at bedtime. ...Read more

Why do I usually feel GERD symptoms, acid reflux, breathless week or days before my period? Is it hormones
Possibly: If it's at the exact same time in your cycle, then the answer is probably, yes. However, acid reflux isn't typically associated with menstrual cycles. Having said that, progesterone, which is high right before one's period can cause increased slowness in the GI tract, which can lead to acid reflux. As far as breathlessness is concerned, I would make sure with doctor that you don't have asthma ...Read more
