Heartburn After Endoscopy
Can i continue Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) 60mg daily for GERD like symptoms 10 days post op laparoscopic cholecystectomy? Still have nausea, burping, heartburn at times
Symptoms are belching after meals and bowel movements that don't feel complete, and indigestion after heavy drinking next morning. No heartburn. Gerd ?
Can upper endoscopy aggravate heartburn? Got scoped 5 days ago (no sedation, mild gastritis and esophagitis, one biopsy).Having severe heartburn now.
NEXIUM (esomeprazole) =GOOD: I assume you had a 'scope' (an egd) to diagnose the 'ulcer'. An esophageal ulcer (gerd ulcer) and hiatal hernia can be painful conditions. Nexium (esomeprazole) is a powerful acid blocker (ppi) and an excellent choice to treat 'too much stomach acid.' lifestyle changes will also help: cut caffeine, alcohol and smoking. You need to be seen quickly if signs of bleeding: black stools/ vomiting 'coffee grounds'. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Excess burping, occasional chest pain, no heartburn. Gastroscopy show 1cm sliding hiatial hernia. Is Laryngopharyngeal reflux likely ? Or GERD ?
Have post-infectious dyspepsia after stomach bug. Stomach burning resolved. Stopped ppi after 12 weeks. Now bloating and burping. What's the cause?
Possibly rebound: Hi Kiana, Sorry to hear that you are feeling uncomfortable with the bloating and burping. Given the information you presented, it's likely that your symptoms are due to stopping the PPI abruptly. There is a known "rebound" effect that is well described here - http://wb.md/2ouI0m9 Things will likely go back to normal in a few weeks. Hope you feel better soon! ...Read more
Endless burping, just after food & when hungry. No gall bladder. Acid relux? I take prevacid (lansoprazole) 15mg qd. Increase?
Pain after eating x 1.5 wk, NI with PPI, mixed stools, consulted gastro, EGD next week. How to relieve discomfort before then?
Upper mid gastric discomfort. Had endoscopy and took numerous acid reflux pills. Nothing. Endoscopy reveals nothing. Boating and discomfort. No pain ?
My upper endoscopy showed everything normal except mild gastritis...no H. Pylori. I have acid reflux and take Omeprazole. Why gastritis?
False -ve H.P common:
Worldwide the most common cause of gastritis is H. pylori infection.
.Recent studies using histology alone in select patients have suggested that H. pylori-negative gastritis may be common. These data suggest that H. pylori is a possible pathogen for duodenal ulcer by duodenal colonization probably via gastric metaplasia. The use of PPIs masks H. pylori infection, increase intestinal metaplasia. ...Read more
Wat cause vomiting after eat, especially after greasy food. Vomit is always greasy.Hida scan, colonoscopy, endoscopy, gastric emptying scan, all normal!
GE reflux: Hida scan does check the function of gall bladder in conjunction with ultrasound. Usually when normal leads away from gb as issue.Gastric emptying has solid and liquid versions, one can be normal while other abnormal. Sounds like part of the problem is gastroesophageal reflux.May need change in medications and diet, elimination of foods upsetting your stomach. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
All day acid reflux, then stomach pains, then bloating, now puking really thick vomit. Acid reflux abnormal, slight relief after puking. ?
After gastroscope I have suffered endless acid reflux. Didn't have prior. Endoscope found h.pylori. Treated with Prevacid, (lansoprazole) Cravit and Amoxycillin?
Gerd and hpylori: very interesting case. H pylori can lower acid production by inflaming gastric acid producing cells so they don't make as much acid. When h pylori is treated, the cells recover and you make more acid (back to normal). It is not the egd that made your reflux worse, it is the h pylori treatment.you will have to discuss with your doctor about needing reflux medication. ...Read more
Having worse acid reflux 4 weeks post op gallbladder removal? Taking two Nexium (esomeprazole) a day. Is this normal?
Bile gastritis: The gallbladder stores bile and releases it during meals, after it is removed, the bile constantly drains into the intestine and if refluxes into the stomach, can cause bile gastritis. While acid suppression is helpful, you may still have symptoms. A trial of carafate (sucralfate) may be helpful as well as changing your diet to low acid foods and frequent meals. Surgery may be indicated if severe symptoms. ...Read more

After upper endoscopy (no sedation, mild gastritis and esophagitis, weak LES, one biopsy) my heartburn is much worse. Why?
Pain s/p endoscopy: Since they did a biopsy they had to cut , though it was small, so acid against an open cut would hurt. Have you resumed your medicines or started medicines like zantac, oemprazole, carafate (sucralfate) or mylanta, that may ease the pain.Discuss wtih your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
