Heart Murmur Makes Left Arm Go Numb
A heart murmur is a sound heard by a stethoscope made by the vibration of blood flow. It can be a normal finding in young healthy people, or can represent abnormal leakage (regurgitation) of a valve, valve narrowing (stenosis), or a congenital condition such as an atrial septal defect, a ventricular septal defect, ...Read more

If I have a heart murmur does that mean i can have heart problems? Get sharp pain left side of chest.
Depends: On why you have the murmur. In simple terms a murmur is some type of abnormal flow across a heart valve. It's either too tight a hole or too loose a hole. An echocardiogram can help measure the problem . Many murmurs are called innocent. That is there is an abnormal sound, but the appearance of the valves on echocardiogram are normal. ...Read more
Question: What you describe is quite nonspecific. A pulmonary murmur with peaked p waves of right ventricular load/right atrial enlargement would fit this but so could multiple other things. ...Read more
What could be causing sharp stinging pains in my heart & pain on left side of head? Blood tests are ok & i also have a heart murmur.
Not your heart: It's probably not your heart -- but stress that causes chest wall strain and tension in the neck that causes your headaches -- you need to relax and do some exercise -- but if persisted, go see your doctor -- and it has nothing to do with your heart murmur. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What causes the type of acute breathlessness where it hurts when breathing in and during expiration? The chest is clear, BP & HRT rate fine, heart murmur upper left & central chest.
See your provider: This is usually due to irritation of the lung lining or to irritation of the nerve along the rib. In any case there are many potential causes for both of these. Most causes are quite benign but some are serious. You should see your provider to obtain a complete assessment for this. ...Read more
I'm 19 and i have been breathless for the past yr & its gotten worse. The end of each breath is shallow and hurts at rest & exercise. ECG shows pointed & tall P wave & upper left heart murmur causes?
Pulm V. Stenosis?: Normal heart has RT & Left Side. The RT normally has low pressures, Lft has higher pressure. Tall peaked P wave suggests RT side has higher than nl pressure. Echo may show problem if a narrow heart valve. If not, further studies necessary (Card CTA or cath). Since U are quite symptomatic U need definitive diagnosis. Valve or other structural abn can be fixed. Other poss may need treatment only. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a heart murmur loudest in the upper left area-rough sound between s1 and s2 (racepinephrine) and it becomes clearer when i exercise and feel breathless. my latest ecgs had P waves pointed aver. 3mm tall causes?
You had an echo...: What did it show? Possibly a bicuspid aortic valve instead of the typical trileaflet aortic valve? Any hypertrophic changes in the ventricle near the outflow tract? Enlarged atria? Elevated RV pressure? I'd be interested in details. Murmurs can fool even the best cardiologists, and the reaction of the murmur to maneuvers isn't included. Echo is the definitive test to characterize murmur origins. ...Read more
I have a burning sensation in chest right below left breast comes and goes I have no heart problems except heart murmur whar could cause this?
Costochondritis: Hi! there are several things that could cause similar symptoms. It could simply be inflammation of the skin (rash?) or of the cartiliage which joins the ribs to the sternum which is called costochondritis and sometimes responds well to Ibuprofen or anaprox (naproxen). If so, usually goes away on its own after awhile. Good luck! dr b. ...Read more
ECHO: Normal Left ventricular size + wall thickness and wall motion, Normal biventricular systolic function, Mild MVP w/ trace regurgitation, EF 67%, RV systolic pressure 16mmHg, mild heart murmur. No symptoms. Help! Is this normal?
MVP: Your echocardiogram is not perfectly normal as it shows mild mitral valve prolapse. All other parameters are normal. MVP is very common and very often causes no problems. Nevertheless I recommend periodic follow-up by a cardiologist as the mvp can worsen, cause atrial arrhythmias and atypical chest discomfort. Very often a click can be heard on stethoscope examination of the heart. ...Read more
