Get it checked out : The seriousness of this depends on how fast it is beating. Anything above 120 needs urgently evaluation in an er. Or if you are not sure how fast it is bearing go to an er. It could be a cardiac rhythm disturbance that needs special treatment. ...Read more

Not likely dangerous: An abrupt change in rate below 100 beats/minute may indicate nothing at all but it can indicate presence of anxiety, or something that triggers an adrenaline rush (position change , breathing, caffeine, supplement, medication).
